Why do many of you still play WoW?

I keep hearing about, X issue, and Y issue, but people still continue to support the game, why not just leave? Or, have you spent so much time in this game to the point where you can’t leave this game?

Because I play for free!

Addiction and self esteem issues.

Friends. Plain and simple. They all still play and my guilds have been around for over a decade.

I might have some issues with the game, but I still enjoy myself enough to look past them, ultimately. :man_shrugging:

Do they make me play less? Well, yeah, but none of them are big enough issues to make me quit; just niggly little things that annoy the snot out of me.

… And y’know,

I think this game holds a heart to majority of players that put too much time investigating in it. If anything it’s a part of their life and like a very good drug. It’s hard to let go.

WoW = Video Game Dopamine

If addiction is the problem, Shadowlands is the cure. Trying to hang on to finish the covenant story, but I’m already back making Classic Alts. Waiting on BC Classic, but may just unsub until it releases…or all the timegates are over.

Pointing out a game has issues isn’t the same thing as hating the game and thinking it’s not fun to play.

When I don’t enjoy something I usually don’t play. If there is something I can enjoy or that keeps me occupied and interested then I stick around. And I never truly hated the entire game honestly. I think perhaps many of us fell in love with some version of this game and its design at some point. Maybe it will never be that way ever again, but it doesn’t mean it can’t be just as good at some point.

My character is so cute and I don’t want anyone to ask for my stuff. I also finally got all the names I wanted on my dead RP server, so I have to sub at least once every two to four years until I die.

I play because it’s fun.
When it’s not fun I’m gone.

Been playing about 16 years. I have no intention of going anywhere. There’s things I’m not thrilled about (the Maw, Torghast length, nerf loot drops) but I will give the development team a lot of credit for creating a versatile game that fits the needs of many. It does a great job of appealing to the masses.

Most of these X or Y issues don’t really affect the content I’m doing, so I’m still playing. And, for a casual player who doesn’t do any hard content any more, I’m really free to do what I want, when I want.

It’s relaxing and fun.

I’m working on old achievements.

OP, if you think it would be a great thing if everybody who ever had any complaint about wow left on their own or were forced out by people like you. you must live a sad life to feel that much need to control the entertainment of millions of strangers.

My kids were 15 and 12 when I started playing in 2004. Now they are 31 and 28. It’s just my wife, myself, and two dogs. What else is there to do? WoW is easy and comfortable.

I enjoy the video game.

Because of the current state of the 'rona in my country/state/municipality I REALLY need the distraction.

Because I can be a panda.

I do leave if I’m not having fun—hence why I was gone for most of BfA, which I deeply disliked—but I’ll come back to check out a new patch or xpac. I’m liking Shadowlands for the most part, so I’ll be sticking around for a while this time.
