Why do I need twitter

They cant update the launcher/forums/website about the random shutdown but they can tell twitter? Is this normal? I’m sitting here wondering what’s going on didnt realize I had to make a damn twitter account to be in the up and up

Twitter is more inclusive and for the cool people, don’t you know?

Hey they’ve got this great new website for the latest information. No account required!

Seriously, you can just Google “Blizzard Twitter” and see the latest info very quickly how is this any different than having a static site?

Because it should be on their main site. Or even better yet, gasp on the Launcher.

“Better check Twitter before I log onto WoW”

Everybody loves twitter!

In all seriousness, my guess is that they wanted to get the word out fast and twitter is faster than updating the launcher. Launcher will probably be updated soon.

You don’t need a twitter account to view their tweets, though. Just bookmark the link to the feed. It’s not that serious.

Quicker and easier to send a message on Twitter then it is to put out an alert on the launcher. I imagine that if it goes on for too long, they will update the launcher.

I just follow some waifus and celebs. Only reason i even have it

Hey, I’m an old guy, okay? I don’t do Twitter, Facebook or any of the social media crap. Do me a favor and let me know about these shutdowns on a WoW site. Thank you.

Everyone saying “You have an official website and launcher”

They also have an official twitter  Welcome for all to view and use, no account needed. It tends to be faster, easier, and more accessible to most people as well to view it here.

Like it takes more work to log into the forums, authenticate, look for appropriate forums, and then post to complain about it than it does to just go to their twitter feed and look at their updates. LOL

It’s just unnecessary steps. How hard is it for a multi-million dollar company to program the launcher to show immediate announcements for Christ’s sake. This is legit indie company bs

Wait… Did you just call Twitter faster?

It’s faster to attempt to log onto WoW, realize it’s broken, try to figure out why, then proceed to go to Twitter to see what’s wrong.

Vs.

Open Launcher, Main Message Servers Suck.

"Ah okay cool, I’ll go make breakfast.

I’m sorry. Are you confused?

Literally most major companies use Twitter for things like this. Don’t act like this is somehow something that Blizzard is bad for doing. When something goes wrong with servers, you don’t go through the process of sending a system message for what could be a minor issue which gets resolved in minutes. Be patient.

Yeah, I mean I went through this myself at one point. I don’t like social media, being a crusty old person. But all I did was remember to add Blizzard Twitter to the list of places I check when something seems to be up. I’m also a filthy casual, though, and not likely to get kicked out of a high ranking key or something…

Because redundancy is inefficiency.

You open a business get a website set up , your customers get to using your website…does it not make sense to post your news on the site of your business?

Its inefficient and it looks amateurish.

Twitter is banning people left and right. Updates should be posted on the launcher or in game like they do with scheduled maintenance.

When will we get parler integration?

It’s fewer steps and more accessible for most people. So. idk.

It’s not “bad”. It’s just silly.

Also, don’t act like the reason they do this is because it’s convenient. Having to check another site is not “convenient”.

It’s cheaper.

The person who runs the social media doesn’t make as much as the guy who has to log onto the maintenance site and update a quick, easy and fast message.

Y’all act like they have to do some magical coding or something to up the Launcher message.
