Why do I miss so many attacks?

My weapon skill is maxed out but I continually miss attacks. Why is this?

Depends on mob level as well. There is chart somewhere, but unless you have some +hit, you’re gonna miss ever now and then.

There’s always a miss chance in classic, even vs mobs your own level. You’ll start getting +hit gear at max level.

It is also rng. Sometimes my character seems to forget how to use his weapon.

Weapon skill relative to the enemy you face and your chance to hit. You fight anything higher level than you and you’ll miss a lot more, even with maxed weapon skill for your level.

Nothing like getting parried by a pig. :slight_smile: lol.

I’m guessing you’re a Rogue or Warrior using Dual-Wield.

Your +hit% is very, VERY low against mobs same-level or higher than you.

While leveling with Dual-Wield, only grind on mobs 1 or 2 levels below you.

Miss
Parry
Dodge

So yea, you’ll see one of those occasionally.

A lot of people saying it’s normal, and it is. You’re going to miss a ton, whether single or dual wielding.

I really enjoy my Hunter (or any caster) over my warrior at lower levels. So much less avoidance to deal with.

I feel your pain. I was helping a friend with level 12-14 bears, and I was level 23 or 24, and sometimes they’d resist my spells.

Yeah, every now and then, RNGesus kills me with a single mob one level higher than me.

I’ve learned that I have to do quests that are about two levels below me, otherwise, I will be grinding and grinding all night long. It’s a little harsh, and at this point, I need to just run Deadmines a few more times so I’m a level above the rest of this advanced stuff in Redridge. I was level 22 tanking Van Cleef, though, and I kicked his butt!

It isn’t ‘occasionally’. Hitting mobs my same level, there have beens times I get ‘dodge, miss, parry’ 4-5 times in a row. I just tried applying wing clip to a mob and missed 3 times in a row using the same ability. This is not something I have noticed just once, but the frequency of it occurring ever since I made my character to now being 26 is actually ridiculous. This includes hits from my pet as well as mine. 5% seems like a real underestimate. To me, it seems closer to the 15-20% mark in actuality if I was just guesstimating.

6% chance to miss + X% to be parried + X% chance to be dodged + resists. you will “miss” a lot til you are 60 and are hit capped
