Why do I keep coming back to Classic?

Every weekend since release I’ve been playing for 15hrs a day (sat and sun).

On the weekdays after work I’ll make sure that I get 2-3 hours in before I knock off to bed.

Yet, when retail was around it could barely keep me entertained for more than an hour a week?

So it’s been almost 4 weeks since release, my rose tinted glasses are gone, yet I keep coming back for more.

I haven’t gamed this much since I was 17.

The nostalgia is done. I’m still here and not bored. You’re right, it’s a great game.

When there is no struggle, there is no appreciation. This is the fundamental difference in retail and classic.

Classes were actually interesting in vanilla. Retail they all got homogenized and pretty much play the same - no one has burst anymore … etc.

While the game is good the leveling is slow as balls. i don’t have the attention span or will to run SM 10000000 times just to get 1 level.

The Rose-Tinted glasses theory had already been mostly debunked by privates servers, even if their data was off. You keep coming back to WoW because it was made by people who loved their jobs and wanted to make a game that kept players hooked with quality content rather than cheap gimmicks. I would expect nothing less from the wizards that brought us the first two Diablo games and Warcraft III.

True, just wait until you hit level 50, LOL

I slowed down dramatically when Monster Hunter World’s new expansion came out.

Classic is great but I’m gonna need to break it up with good ol’ action games to prevent burnout.

hey man

's not healthy

Not just a struggle, but a SHARED struggle. That always brings people together.

If only you had to deal with the zhevra hoof drop rate, for example, it would be infuriating and completely unacceptable. But everyone gets it which means we all commiserate and often laugh about it. That’s a bonding activity that helps build the game’s social fabric.

I ran various quadrants of SM about 10 times total (Cathedral just once) while leveling from 30 to 40.

If you are spamming dungeons as a way to level, then yeah I agree that would be a terribly uninteresting way to play the game.

Yeah, I never even put ON the rose-tint glasses. I really thought I wouldn’t like it again. I was totally prepared to not feel like playing.

We went into the stress, and I was HOOKED. Just like day one again.

We’ve been no-lifing this game ever since, and I haven’t had this much fun in a video game since the first time we played.

Too many people think nostalgia is the reasoning behind everything. It is possible to actually enjoy something that is older, even if you had no emotional attachment to it.

Dopamine. Classic flares up that feel good center of your brain. Your addictive personality disorder takes care of the rest. You know like playing 15 hours a day on the weekends and that “need” to play every day.
Yes. We are addicts. Embrace it.
