Why do i have to go back and grind the previous expansion to unlock the allied races i paid for when i bought this one?

title says it all. i bought BfA for the allied races. i don’t mind pathfinder because i’m going to be doing most of that content anyway and i’ll get it eventually.

i hated legion. still hate legion. i didn’t play it when it came out because everything about it disgusts me, and i can’t stand the whole snot-green radioactive vomit spew everything is painted with. i hate argus and the vindicaar and everything about it. i didn’t play it then, and i hate playing it now. why do i need to go back there and grind a bunch of BS rep?

./sigh this topic has not been covered enough.

i only recently resubscribed, i haven’t seen this topic discussed. everything is “pathfinder takes to long” or “classic will kill retail” or “give dk’s back their 2h frost(which i actually agree with but it’s not a huge issue)”.

edit: to clarify, i’m not complaining about the grindy aspect of it. i’m complaining that i have to go back and grind -legion- content instead of having options to get that rep in current content

You’re not the first to bring this up.

But like everyone else, you need to grind the rep for the races. They dont just simply hand them to you.

You don’t have to do anything. Unlocking them are 100% optional.

When they were released, it was current content at the time. Blizzard shouldn’t have to re-vamp entire questing locations and stories just to accommodate a few lazy people.

Also if you know somebody with a two person flying mount it will go a lot faster.

are you saying they were released during legion?

also i’m not complaining about hte grinding, i’m complaining that there’s no way to get that rep in bfa content. give me a tabard or something to let me gain army of the light rep in lieu of my other rep when i’m out doing world quests or dungeons and stuff, don’t make me go back to that horrid place

Besides, it wouldn’t make ANY sense if they changed reps and the stories. You’re helping to build relationships with Highmountain Taurens, Lightforged Draenei, Void Elves and Mag’har Orcs. Doing rep for them in content that has nothing to do with them or their factions would be outright idiotic.

Yes, they were released during Legion content. I had all of them unlocked and heritage armors unlocked while Legion was current content.

I hope Blizzard never changes it.

the time it takes is less of an issue than the fact that i have to go back to legion at all

the “You are prepared!” questline handled the lore of that perfectly fine. all i have left is the slog to exalted reputation. the grind itself i have no issue with, it’s not having an option for something like buying their tabard and running dungeons or something like that

Blizzard is happy to hand you heroic raid loot for 0 effort and ruin gear progression in the process. However, that reskin of the race you want to play, yeah you have to grind heavily timegated rep for that…

Such a typical horrid response. “wE hAD tO gRiND tHeM sO do YoU”

I did the grind and NO ONE should have to do it. Its absolutely maddening that one has to drudge through old conent for weak reskins.

I personally think if the allied race was not released when you were playing it is a waste of time going back and grind rep from neutral.

I unlocked Mag’harc Orcs and Zandalari Trolls while playing current content, and it was “easier” because I unlocked them while trying to get flying unlocked. playing thru 8.0, 8.1 and 8.2
Finally unlocked both and flying.
Flying is so satisfying, but allied races are such a rip off, I felt bad, I got my Mag’har Orc hunter to level 87 and never played him again, and my Zandalari druid to level 27 and haven’t played him either, it is just that after all the grind you have to do to unlock them you will have to do more grinding leveling up, that really demotivates you.

So I can’t think of unlocking Highmountain Tauren because I didn’t play Legion, eventhough I really like them, but after the demotivation I suffered with the other 2 allied races, I feel like unlocking an allied race from zero and getting more demotivated by leveling is not worth it.

I am just waiting for next expansion to give a free boost to my Zandalari druid, but won’t be going thru the leveling process again , itsucks really bad, even with heirlooms and whatever you can buy, unless you want to purchase a $60 boost , but I prefer to stay away from those since that is just incentivating Activition to add more thing like that.

Highmountain Tauren, Nightborne and Void Elves were all introduced in Legion.

Lightbound Draenei and Mag’har Orcs were WoD

Dark Iron Dwarves have been around forever.

Why wouldn’t you have to go back and grind some rep with them?

because it is a game, not a chore and people prefer to play and have fun, not doing repetitive quest to unlock a skin of an existing race.

I think it should just unlock new customization options in the customization screen for your race, not a new race which is actually the same race with a different skin.
Racials? they are not even worth it, I prefer the core orcs racials over the Mag’har orcs

New players want to play a certain race, but they have to level up another race and grind irrelevant content for days, just so they can finally create the character that they want and level up again.

It’s bad design. Stop defending bad design. Nobody is “cool” because they grinded this rep, can we please stop cockblocking other players because we want to feel good about something?

in that case i should have been just given the option to make one of those becuase i spent over two years in vanilla as a non-raider with nothing to do but UBRS/LBRS and BRD and all those quests and fighting should have had me exalted with their required faction over ten years ago.

don’t make silly comparisons.

the grind itself isn’t the issue. lots of other factions have ways for you to grind their rep anywhere by wearing their tabard. that’s all i’m asking for.

You didn’t answer the question. All you said is “GIVE ME FREE STUFF NAOW!”

Please, answer the question: “Why shouldn’t you have to grind rep with the faction you are trying to reroll?”

I guess you do not research purchases. The information was never hidden.

" you can experience Azeroth as one of Battle for Azeroth’s new playable Allied Races. Earn the respect of the Highmountain Tauren and Nightborne for the Horde, and Lightforged Draenei and Void elves for the Alliance, and you’ll unlock the ability to create characters of that race.

Each Allied Race has its own unique set of requirements to fulfill before you can unlock them, such as completing quests or earning reputation. Once you fulfill these requirements, you can embark on a quest to recruit the race to your faction. If you level up an Allied Race character all the way from their starting level 20 to 110 without boosting, faction/race-changing, or having levels granted to you through the Recruit-A-Friend program, you’ll earn that race’s distinctive Heritage Armor set—cosmetic gear that you can use on any character of that Allied Race you play in the future."

This is strait from the order site for BFA back in 2018…

Spend your few weeks and grind the rep, its not like its a chore to do anymore and really never was. Or do the other choice and live without the races that was unlocked in Legion. The choice is yours. Other than that play the game like everyone else had to play and earn it.

You answered your question yourself.

You stated, right there, exactly WHY you have to go back to the previous expansion to unlock allied races. /thread!

I enjoyed Legion, so I had the two allied races unlocked eons before they put them in (with just having to do the short quests.)
