Why do i have 2 cpu cables?

i am unsure why my psu came with 2 what i believe is 8x8 yet my mobo only comes with 1 cpu connector. both cables are the exact same thing they don’t split off or anything but on the mobo i have an extra 4 pin i believe for OCing.

really confused about this and on the cpu it just states 1 cpu slot

I wouldn’t worry about it, usually you only need one 8pin. They are for extreme overclocking and it’s unlikely you’ll need both.

4 pin is 155w, 8 pin is 235w IIRC? So together that would be a lot of watts.

If your motherboard has an 8 +4, you can use it if you want. You should be able to split the EPS cables, but make sure you’re looking at the EPS cable not the PCIE cable.

With just the 8 pin, that’s 235 continuous watts, but even in a full AVX load (extra power) you won’t touch that. Hell at stock settings seems a 4 pin would suffice.

thanks. yea i just ended up reading my mobo manual cause i had to figure out where the hell everything plugs into hard to see without any light so had to use my phone as flafh light.

ended up just hooking the 1 up it doesn’t split into a 8x4 it’s just 8 pins on each side don’t think this psu came with one or i could be using it to hook into my gpu because that was the only cable i had to hooked into my gpu as it splits off with the adapter it came with but i think that adapter is 6x4’s.

had the same issue down the line too with the damn power/reset plugs i totally forgot this one came with 2 seperate power switches one in front and one in back

2 words… motherboard compatibility…

Some manufacturers do things different, so they require 2 plugs… could be extra power maybe for OC but they give extra in case you use some non-standard Mobo
