Why do hunters

have to give up an entire bag for ammo?

I’m cool with it.

I don’t need the bag space since alpha lord warriors roll on every hunter item.

Because you need ammo for your weapon.

I leveled a hunter to 10 and kept forgetting to buy ammo.

And the idea of all the ammo prices adding up makes my head hurt.

I never thought i would be saying this, but i respect the Hunter class now that i have some idea of the problems they face.

Where else are you going to put the ammo?

it certainly does make things interesting, not only the ammo constraint but also the minimum range dead zone which takes some handling to get right. especially if the pet suddenly goes into failure mode and becomes incapable of landing a taunt lol.

Also food for the pet is required too.

If im going out on a farming run on my hunter I fill up my 16 slot quiver, carry an extra 10+ stacks of ammo in my last bag and have 3 stacks of meat for my pet. Thats usually good enough for a few hours of farming stuff before ammo runs out and I need to clear my bags

Because Warlocks need a bag for their soulshards.
Rogues need their poisons and powders.
Casters need their buffing reagents.
Warriors need space to put all the tears from other classes about bag space.

An entire bag. Just for poisons and powders. Not even for the rest of my consumables, gear, etc.

Bag space is more precious than oil at this point.

It’s funny a warrior asking why people were complaining about bag space taken by keys in the keychain thread. There’s all sorts of junk that takes up space in bags and in banks.

Hunters do not “give up” anything. My 36 Troll hunter uses normal bags to put ammo in. i don’t want the speed increase of quivers.

“Quivers” are special bags that hunter can choose to use, that provide a 10% increase in ranged speed. That’s a lot. Use it if you wish, or don’t: it is 100% your choice.

Hunters do have to carry ammo. That is part of the game. For a long dungeon run (like Scarlet Monastery, that has 4 instances) I carry 8 to 10 stacks of 200 arrows. That uses up 8 to 10 bag slots, whether I use a normal bag or a quiver.

Similarly my warlock doesn’t use special warlock bags for soul shards.

Sure you don’t have to use them, but with up to 15% increased ranged attack speed them you really impact your character by not doing so.

I think it’s certainly viable though when farming to swap to a different 12+ slot bag or something to get 4+ item slots to make the runs more profitable.

Just depends on your intentions at the time.

The same reason that druids have to fill up their bags with extra gear and reagents, I guess

The real question is why can’t warriors block arrows with a shield? Historically, the main purpose of a shield is to block or deflect projectiles. Who’s ever seen a fantasy picture of a shield with an arrow stuck in it? Yeah, because that’s what shields do; they block arrows.

Here… we… go. Do you want bow-casters? Because this is step 1 in getting bow-casters.

It’s so funny watching this re-run.

You’re also giving up the increased space - quivers and ammo bags have WAY more slots that the bags you’re generally able to find at that level. Maybe you have a tailor main, but if you’ve giving a 36 hunter runecloth bags then I have no storage sympathy for you. :grinning:

And if you need to carry the ammo anyway, there’s no reason not to take the quiver attack speed buff.

They can though, shield block.

Would be OP if Warriors could just equip a shield and deflect any damage a Hunter would do.

It’s a guild joke that before I go anywhere on my hunter it’s “Gotta stop and buy about a bajillion extra arrows! BRT!”

I don’t think non-hunters understand just how much ammo we can blow through. NVM food for the pet, water for me, stat food for me, bandages and heal pots…

I typically have 5-12 open bag slots at any given time.

Aspect of the Cheetah was given to hunters, I think, partially so the extra runs to town don’t suck so hard.

I think their aim is by taking a 14 slot bag and carrying 8 stacks of ammo they essentially gain 6 “free” slots.
Since normally having the ammo pouch would lose them those 14 slots anyway for general bag useage.

Oh ye you’re right. I’m angry about whichever expansion changed it. Forgot it works in classic.
