Why do Horde turtle so much in AV? (EDIT: Answered)

This seems to happen a lot. Is it a legit strategy? Is it easier for the Horde to win this way? I have really only played Ally in AV. What do you do against a turtle to save 30 minutes?

Horde loses the base trade meta. Alliance has roughly a 2 minute advantage there. Alliance has to wipe or waste 2 minutes for Horde to win a base trade.

Turtling and turning it into a war of attrition is the most realistic chance of winning Horde has.

Oh ok well that makes sense then. Thanks

I love how you guys worry about time and honor investment while I worry about bashing a gnome with my giant D…ire bear claws. Eating the stragglers in field of strife while you numlock to Galv for the millionth time. nerds.

Wait you play for fun? ABSURED

This is wrong for a number of reasons.

-Horde cap IWB/SHB faster than Alliance cap IBT/TP. This is an inarguable fact.
-Vann and his warmarshals are much much easier to deal with compared to Drek and his warmasters. You can actually wall kite Vann with taunts if needed as well.

AV basically ends when the first two towers/bunkers cap and if alliance don’t recap SHB/IWB Horde have a free win.

And 90% of those matches IWB / SHB get back capped because alliance actually attempt to back cap and most of the times the bunker is either defended by bobby boosty’s or sub 70s, or undefended entirely, which ruins that strategy for horde. Even when Horde wins that way alliance usually gets same or more honor.

I’m not arguing gear.
Just bluntly stating that in a pure race Horde will and should win every time. The map layout favors them.

Which is usually like ~500ish honor for that kind of win, I’d rather burn 3 or 4 bunkers and lose. Theres no marks of honor anymore.

Horde is finally starting to get smarter (sometimes) and realizing that racing is awful for our side. When both sides race, alliance win about 8/10. That’s great for alliance. It’s not good at all for us. Back in classic when we defended, we won 99%. If the idea of a long match angers you, then go to the other BGs. AV doesn’t even get matches that long anymore, even if no side wants to attack, because of the reinforcement limit. This point cap already put a lid on match length. So I don’t know why people are worried about it.

Recently I saw the shamans sent out for the first time in a year. Still no ice lord though. Maybe one day.

nuh uh u r rong haha

I really, really hate this new trend of attempting to outright deny reality and then trying to substitute a complete :ox::poop: story that everyone knows is :ox::poop:.

What exactly are you hoping to accomplish with this? The only people that dont instantly know youre full of :poop: are people that never run AV.

I like you…some of these guys would have never lasted in original AV that went on for hours and hours, some of the most fun I’ve ever had in gaming.

We are a dying breed

tis a concept lost these days. its nice to see why the hell you keep on doing this really. the combat should be embraced for that.

I got to see all that brutal I wasn’t sure why I keep getting on the DK today in a play session before irl came up. I mean to stop the av collection but the ocd says NO!. “Just a bit more” it whispers to me.

DK and mage match against me. both dropped. didn’t check levels to see if lower. still felt pretty good. 2 on 1 and only I walked away.

funny thing is they jumped me. I was in a fight on flag not on “roads” mindset. I usually am…hear it it 10000 times it sinks in eventually.

I would have zoomed on by if not “invited” to play.

SHB, sure, but not IWB. Looks like I’ve just argued with you. I guess the universe explodes now.

Horde dont cause turtles btw. I’ve sat in many an AV to know that we exclusively go with a zug zug strat to maximize honor and shorten games.

Any turtling is caused by alliance playing Defense or backcapping (I guess 1k honor per game isnt enough for you?) which sends a bunch of people back to our cave. Well, we aren’t just going to let you have towers for free at that point so we take back our towers and send alliance back to their cave. And such the turtle begins.

Tl;dr: Alliance is causing the turtles by playing heavy defense.

Just for the luls, i used my boost on an alliance character and the run south is faster/easier for alliance. As the person at the front of the line in full boosted gear, i didnt encounter a single mob to dismount me and barely took any archer damage. I was already running into the FW towers when TP was tagged so all 4 towers burned.

Even though we lost because we waited for 4 while horde went in on 2 (would have been a loss had they waited another 60-90 seconds for DB to burn) alliance gained more honor on average.

I’ll keep testing, but so far I’m convinced alliance just has a shorter and easier path to their south towers than horde does north.

Yes turtling is the strat horde wins because alliance hates pvp in av

Fixed that for you.
