Why do Horde get guards on Zeppelins?

Answer me one quest chin:

Why do Horde get guards to defend their zeppelins but Alliance don’t get guards to defend their boats?

'Cause that’s how it always was?

because the alliance can easily invade horde capital cities without being noticed until the deed is nearly done, while the horde can’t do likewise, even if the horde raid was only rogues and druids

its not because of anything about the horde’s proficiency at architecture, but because blizzard wanted to give the alliance more incentive to engage in world PvP, therefore they deliberately designed the horde’s capital cities badly, and those of the alliance well

Corruption and politics most likely. SI:7 is ‘on the case’

OP you’re wrong, there are guards. You do the same thing to a zeppelin as you do a boat; you wait until it’s docked then you run onto it. The guards can’t follow. To get to the boats in Auberdine you have to run through way more guards than any Horde guards. Menethil you have to run through the town. If you can’t figure out how to evade the guards you’re probably not going to last against players.

While this is sorta true there is a back door to ogrimmar…What idiots were taking the zeppelin? lol

I don’t see the zeppelins as a point of weakness

You can summon in this game…

I kept reading this a few times … after each read I can still make no sense of it…

Its an oversight by the vanilla developers. It is what it is.

honestly, i changed my argument halfway through that post after realizing that the horde’s capital cities being badly designed wasnt because of faction bias, then I didn’t think enough of going back to edit the rest of the post before writing the second half

actually, now that i think about it, if they wanted the alliance to do more world PvP, then the alliance’s capital cities would also be badly designed so that its easier for the horde to invade them, so that they’d more often be in contact with the horde

the reason the alliance needed an incentive to PvP in the first place is because new players would see monster races in the horde and think that thats the faction to PvP on, not because of the racials, but because they see the monsters and think they’re evil and wanna play as the bad guys without reading the lore first(though the undead are secretly evil)

so, I guess it doesn’t have anything to do with capital cities, actually; maybe they just thought the alliance needed to have somewhere to run if the horde was overwhelming them(such as during all of pre-BG P2), and so thats why they designed them well

and, yeah, the alliance boats having no guards makes the alliance more often come into contact with the horde in zones where the alliance is autoflagged

Security is always more intense at airports.

Horde spends our money on security - you guys just have fancy castles.

For the same reason horde racials are incredibly powerful in pvp.

The head developers favoured the horde and gave them certain advantages.

Ironically it caused a majority of pvpers to flock to horde which is why we see the massive faction imbalance of pvpers

Horde are more popular now than they were back then, so we’re playing in a game balanced around a heavier Alliance population.

Why not?

I imagine that the designer of zeppelins and boats was not thinking about pvp. After all, less than half of the playerbase does pvp.

But who knows? Who knows what was in someone’s mind in 2004?

I have a feeling SW harbor was supposed to be in vanilla but they couldn’t get it done, so they rushed out the “boats to Menethil” thing. I have no evidence whatsoever of that though.

Only for the last 19.3 years.

100% WRONG

Guards were made into elites for the horde only because of faction balance, and the developers played horde.

If you did anything that inconvenienced any of the devs, they had the power to patch it themselves, no commitee’s or approvals or anything.

A perfect example is a dev getting mad at someone /follow them in a battleground… instant patch to break the follow command.

edit for clarity, the guards were ADDED and made elites, along with all horde guards in every town.

Overrated due to bad players.

They are objectively better. Its not an opinion or “good player / bad player” thing.
