Why do holiday bosses still require a tank and heals?

Im so tired of waiting 10+ minutes for something that will be done in 30 seconds. What makes it worse is the “average wait time” always being so far off. It says 3 minutes, then 10+ minutes later, Im still sitting there.

While Im here, it also shouldnt take 15 years of farming a mount to get it (or not get it if you have my luck).

Probably because it’s a boss.

Though in the past just about anyone could tank it, doesn’t seem to be the case this year.

I think the players called it a joke one too many times
so some disgruntled dev said “So you think itʻs a joke do you?” and fiddled with the settings.

It barely does.

And who cares if it does, it takes like 3 minutes to kill. And that includes the time to zone in, activate the fight, do the fight and zone out.

Even when I queue as DPS it takes about a min to get in.

That’s on Priest or Paladin or Hunter even.

congrats to everybody completely unbothered by outdated design, im super happy for you. I hope you get bonus points for defending them, but things can be improved.

If something dies in 30 seconds, it doesnt need a tank or heals, so let 5 of ANY spec queue and get it done faster. Its not that hard to figure out.

You are completely free to play a tank or healer you know. Even just for one fight.

Be a part of the solution, not the problem.

It’s WoW. The only things you don’t need a Tank and healer for are:

  • AH Shopping
  • Roleplay (in most cases)
  • Pet Battles
  • Delves
  • Riding a mount

Almost all current instanced PvE content needs it, and all previous content when it was current needed it.

What if holiday bosses were 10 mans? With 1 tank 2 healers and 7 dps? That would shorten the queue.

I get a bit tired of seeing topics like this, a few facts to consider:

  1. they require one to select the tank and healer roles
  2. you don’t HAVE to be the tank/healer spec, just queue as one
  3. most people won’t CARE unless they die due to aggro or lack of heals

In short, if you are a class that can tank and/or heal, queue as those and just DPS to speed up the killing of said boss

This particular boss does highlight how there doesn’t need to be a tank/healer, autoattack damage is negligible. Have personal responsibility to not stand in stuff, and if that fails then just release and rejoin the fight.

Hell, it might even teach dpsers to pay attention when there’s no one else actively trying to undo their mistakes.

We wiped 8 times yesterday. Tank was a pally wearing mainly cloth. This boss needs a tank and heals

They don’t. But doing the mechanics instead of ignoring them is a good idea.

To be extremely nitpicky, I recall in OG classic Onyxia was downed by a group of 40 warlocks and possibly priests too.:innocent:

I mean, I remember people losing their minds during wrath because 25 death knights walked into the place and absolutely wrecked it. The game requires it, the content doesn’t.

I like to think it needed keep fools Form short cutting it and try by pass it, It why I fine how it event boss tune to keep fool try to abuse how boss run.

More recently wasn’t the M+ meta to use four DPS and a healer? Might have been in SL though. I remember kite-tanking in BFA.

Well, if you don’t wanna wait 10+ minutes… play a tank or healer, you’re a DPS, you’re a dime-a-dozen.
