Why do high rated WoW PvPers even have an Ego

Not to say all of them have egos, but there are plenty that do. I mean of all games out there how is rated WoW PvP honestly going to be something that respectable? If you compare WoW to a game even like Overwatch they are completely different.

A 2k rated player on WoW could potentially qued into a 2.4+ Cr or rank one player if MMR was high enough for them where as Overwatch a Silver player isn’t going to que into a Diamond player (unless smurfing).

The point is anyone could really que into the best players in the game despite your experience/rating. This is also a very old game I don’t see how it impresses anyone that after many years of it being around you were able to achieve high rating.

This isn’t coming from a place of envy rather just pity that anyone would try to hold rating over someone else to say they are better…its pretty lame

This is the world we live in now.

We have to tear down our heroes and people who strive to do better.

You know, to feel better about our wallowing in mediocrity. 9th place trophies for all!

They do? news to me

I have been top 1% in WoW several times but I have never thought anything of it. In fact I didn’t even realize how I compared to others until I looked it up. Like it’s just a game it’s not a high end sport full of physical skill.

If I went into a match right now and lost to a well known PvPer there is a high chance they would be emoting or trash talking me after the match just because that how toxic and inflated egos have gotten lately.

Streamer culture probably has a lot to do with it.

If you’re streaming as a highly rated PvP’er, then your audience expects you to be somewhat energetic during your wins / losses. They’re not going to watch someone just sitting there whilst expressing no emotion.

I would say that most of the toxicity is faked for the sake of entertaining viewers.

I’m not trying to say it’s some kind of super great achievement that someone would go and talk about at the water cooler at work.

But then what was the point of this thread? Why sit here and tear down those people? What is it that you’re after?

Do you just want an echo chamber in here full of people saying “yeah these top PVP’rs suck and they should all feel bad“ or something?

But to answer your question:

People in general are more toxic these days. The “with me or against me” mentality has taken hold so hard in humanity these days that none of this surprises me.

And one day, this stuff is going to bite us in the butt. As a species.

No honestly was just looking to see some insight on why someone would feel more powerful or “better” than someone else on this game just because of rating. It’s not unknown to anyone that plays that WoW pvp can get extremely toxic.

Wasn’t expecting any changes just curious what leads to a mindset like this. I could be super toxic and spit on people and call them bad after every match I win but what good would that even be doing for me.

There are a lot of people out there that have been beaten down, oppressed, and treated like crap.

It’s people like that that become cops, and then go exercise their power on other people. For payback.

I guarantee every person that does a /spit or teabags in a bg is either weak irl, or was weak as a kid and this game is the only place they can feel strong, or recognized for something in their lives.

OMG, so much win in this post it is scary. Tell it like it is my dead brother.

A world filled with people who play basketball games but don’t keep “score” so everyone wins and participation trophies for all so no one feels “bad”.

We don’t want to raise people to be ready for the real world where the boss doesn’t give a f…k you showed up when you are an hour late and you say “but i showed up, where is my raise”.

Frankly, if you’re a super high rated player, you’re good. Simple as that.

Even with weird queues, things average out over all the matches someone will play. You say this post doesn’t come from a place of envy, but you’re sitting here seemingly trying to tear down the accomplishments of people who have been successful in this game’s competitive PvP.

So… I don’t believe you.

(please note that I’m not defending egomaniacs. I’m just commenting on what this post seems to be)

Are you trolling or something? How were you top 1% but only level 2 honor
