I have a legit stalker on WoW, of course I will not mention his name since that’s against the forum TOS but he’s been harassing me for weeks now. I am an active member of the /4(LFG) community on my server and have been for years and years, so I enjoy my time there, I have many friends in there. This person became obsessed with harassing me and starting making insane slanderous accusations and hurling insults at me every time I was online, so I reported them and put them on ignore…
That yielded no help since the person just logs onto alts and now they get other people to whisper me and harass me as well, so once again I reported and even submitted a GM ticket about this, to which the GM did nothing at all and responded with a generic copy/paste reply “we’ll look into it”.
Simply placing someone on ignore is not a good solution, because they still spam /4 and trade chat with these insults/slander against me and I get told by other people that they’re constantly saying these bad things about me in chat, even when I’m not online.
I have submitted a total of three GM tickets, all of which have yielded no help at all since the person has not been silenced, suspended, or anything and they continue to harass me every single day.
Obviously I’m not going to repeat everything that they say to me/about me, but you can use your imagination, it’s highly insulting…
So my question is, why is there no protection from harassment? Is Blizzard so hard up for sub numbers that they simply do not silence/suspend anymore no matter what?
Instead of putting them on your ignore list, just ignore them personally. Don’t reply back to the messages. Simply do nothing and they will get bored because you’re not giving them the attention they’re looking for.
Maybe contact blizzard directly and ask for advise on how they can help handle the situation.
If Forest Gump calls you stupid, just chuckle and move along knowing that Forest isnt too bright himself.
Unless they are griefing you, keeping you from being able to play…and assuming you have warmode turned off…I would just stop thinking about what theyre saying.
Theyre clearly doing it to get a reaction from you…mission accomplished.
People who behave this way have mommy and/or daddy issues in the first place. Pity their pathetic lives that are so laughably meaningless that harassing someone else is the only way they can have any sense of self worth at all.
Pathetic.
I quite literally have not replied to this person for over two weeks, I’ve had them on ignore. As I said, they resorted to having other people whisper me, etc… I am not giving them attention, they are mentally ill and don’t seem to be getting bored.
he shouldnt. He should report them every time they do it.
But he also shouldnt allow them to affect him personally.
These mental defectives permeate every aspect of life. Cant get away from them. So not allowing them to have the effect they are trying to get is the only real way to shut them down.
I get the feeling we aren’t getting the full story.
How do you know nothing was done? Blizzard will never share any information regarding what actions they take against other players.
It also depends on what was said, harassment comes in many different degrees Each degree comes with different degrees of what kind of punishment, if any, are appropriate. Report and ignore is all you can do. Don’t respond to or acknowledge them in anyway.
And there you have it. They are mentally challenged to behave like that.
So for your part, just keep ignoring it. Report it, obviously, if it breaks the rules, but you have to learn to let morons be morons because they really cant be anything else, and you cant let it ruin your own game time.
If this is really bothering you, then make sure to report each and every person that is whispering you on behalf of this person. if Blizzard sees hundreds of reports for language etc. than they will have to look into it eventually. Just don’t take it personally. Ignore and move on. If more randoms start whispering you with filthy and derogatory comments then keep reporting them too every time they do it and put them on ignore.
Make sure in your tickets that the message you are receiving is “circumventing the ignore feature”.
Be aware that you can go to the support website and re-open a ticket so you can add the above language.
If they are getting other players to contact you on their behalf, but the other players are un-aware of the ongoing issue, let Blizzard sort that out and report them as well. If you actually have a relationship with the other players, you can briefly inform them that you never wish to hear a message from that individual again, and that you will report them if they carry another message in the future. Do not go into details.
Most importantly: Never, never, never reply. This muddies the waters and causes Blizzard to take a step back. Don’t type back “reported” “stop” or anything else.
These things take time, which is uncomfortable. Only you can decide if you want to hang in there as it goes it’s natural course, or you want to take more direct measures such as server transfers or other measures.
Keep making more tickets. Make it very clear that they make more and more alts to harass you, and how many tickets you’ve already put it trying to get this taken care of. Ask for it to be escalated to a supervisor if they won’t do anything. Pretty sure using alts to get around /ignore is against the rules.
Ignore the people whispering you. That will let them know this is serious. Should make those people if they are your friends ignore that person as well.
Dude, the OP stated they’ve been ignoring and reporting everytime not even replying to the little manchild in question but it sounds as though they’ve become lax over the years. This is one of the few nitpicks I’ve had with Blizzard as in the past the perpetrator once found guilty would get some semblance of a temporary ban be it for a day, week or more depending on the severity of the harrassment in question. Sooner we stop victim blaming and call out the douchebags in question, sooner we can most likely unsully the bad rap the gaming community keeps getting due to angry neckbeards and kids perpetuating the negative stigma.
It’s also one thing I’ve grown to respect about SquareEnix as they seem to be better with reports of needlessly rude behavior and harrassment. More often than not [some do fall under the radar but no company is perfect] if you’re found to be harassing players nonstop or are just being flat out nasty [using nasty instead of the T word] you’re either suspended for a long time or banned for good.
