Why would the furry/scaly community want visage forms when it is specifically the furry/scaly version that attracts their interest?

And didn’t they have that ability before they became playable? I thought I ran across some who shapeshifted and attacked me in Grizzly Hills, Northrend.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I am talking in-game as in:
‘It’s not like people in Stormwind would be screaming and fainting in the streets over another humanoid beast race.’
Well, the consensus seems to be it was cater to the player base. That would explain those flashy customizations.
I do hope Blizzard remembers to include an actual lore reason for them though, maybe in their starting zone.
