Why do dogs drink from the toilet?

Surely they can smell that we pee in there.

My dog enjoys licking his crotch for minutes at a time and chewing on dead, dried out frogs he finds in the yard. I don’t think he would mind a slight twinge of ammonia.

Better question. Why do people let their dogs lick them on their face given the things dogs lick with there tongues?

I had a friend over today and he let my dog lick his face, including lips.

My dog had just spent 20 minutes licking the worst parts of his body.

So they can lick their owner in the mouth to give them a taste.
Close the bathroom door if you have dogs.
They also will eat poop. So be careful what you leave them exposed to.

My old dog ate bees. He seemed pretty open minded about various new flavors and sensations. Except this one dog food, if you mixed it, he’d pick those out and drop them beside his bowl. :dracthyr_shrug:

Canines have such a good sense of smell that they could be smelling sweet sugar from the toilet bowl and thinks ‘banaza!’

The waters always cool

Of the dogs I grew up with, I don’t remember any of them ever drinking out of the toilet. I assumed this was a cartoon trope, like mice eating cheese.

Because they can.

They eat poo, I don’t think it bothers them…

They do it because the water in their bowl is less appetizing than what is in the toilet. It’s their way of telling you to clean their bowl and put fresh water in it.

For the same reason you make bad threads: because they can.

Dogs drink from the toilet because people leave the seat open.

Deep pools of water are safer than puddles at ground level.

My roommate once used to have a Keeshond dog, very beautiful dog. One day, I was minding my business, heading to my room when I saw something grey and fuzzy in the bathroom. I took another look and there it is. A Keeshond drinking right out of the toilet. I shouted at it and it ran out. I later learned that his dog sometime drink out of the toilet and I was like wtf why. He said he have no idea since he always have a bowl full of water. Guess we still never knew why.

Big Sunday energy in this thread.

Keep up the Light’s work.
