Spiders also arent tall skinny humanoids 
They have 2 legs and 4 arms, for a total of 6 limbs.
Maybe the missing 2 merged into a tail.

It seems that they’re being slowly mutated into the form of other Old God minions, especially since it’s being done via the black blood of the Old Gods. So they’re going from Nerubian form to more of a form similar to Warlord Zon’ozz, General Vezax, or Mythrax the Unraveler.
Perhaps part of the “ascension ritual” is to halt it part way before they become completely mad and uncontrollable? All just speculation, of course.

Now this just makes more questions. Do Nerubains have two abdomens? If so, do they have two sets of organs? When they lose the bulbous abdomen where do those organs go? If I put a saddle on the abdomen could I use Nerubains as a mount?

Centaurs having two ribcages makes so much sense, yet is something that has never crossed my mind before. I’m always more concerned with the social dynamic that they’re almost always technically naked from the waist down. Pinkeye must be prevalent among most societies, especially in the children who are at perfect crop dusting height.
