Why do arcane shot and aimed shot share a cooldown?

This is completely unhinged. How do I contact the original dev to understand his psychology for scientific research?

cuz it’s OP otherwise :expressionless:

Ya it’s pretty dumb tbh.

Arcane shot is a complete wet noodle, end game it does less damage than 1 swp tick, completely asinine.

if it’s so weak then why do you wanna cast it :expressionless:

Because I want to press button while moving not 3.5 charged shot. Yes 3.5, the 3s cast is actually a lie and another thing wrong with vanilla wow. Bait and switch, hidden .5s delay.

I mean it crits for 500 against warriors. And is like you said instant cast. You have to know when to use it.

It crits either 419 or 430 can’t remember. 500 is extremely exaggerated and not possible unless stacking +spell!

they take extra damage in zerker stance.

Fair enough. 198 non crit at level 60 however is so so disgusting it’s not even funny.

One is for when you have time to open, the other is for while you are moving.

No need. I read your post so allow me to clarify.

Arcane shot is absolutely useless in classic WoW outside of mob tagging. You don’t use it. Ever. For any reason other than mob tagging. Your auto shot does more damage than arcane shot, and doesn’t cost mana.

Your entire rotation is aimed shot–>multi shot. That’s it. That’s the whole entire class. Not arcane shot.

Not serpent sting.

Aimed shot

Multishot

I know, even less of a reason to have arcane share the same cd. Puzzling decision by 04 dev.

If you pvp it is really useful. Can’t aimed shot while moving.

Well since there’s no debuff limit if you have the mana you should serpent sting now. Though it doesn’t scale so that sucks.

Also if you’re after optimal dps you should be melee weaving raptor strikes. If you have WF you’ll even weave autoswings and WC.

Honestly, given the health pools outside of raid it isn’t ridiculous. A mage rolls around with like 2-2.5k pre-raid and warriors are mean to have a big health pool. PvP in Vanilla wasn’t really just BOOM headshot kinda fighting for the most part except for the sneaky stabby jerks.

Arcane shot is straight garbage in vanilla anyway so who cares.

Kevin Jordan, and he would likely tell you something about risk vs reward and choices.

I have talked with him a little researching concepts for a game I have been designing to wrap my mind around a more traditional old school feel and just talking with the guy a little in discord it changed my mind on quite a lot of things that formerly I would have agreed with you here on but now days consider to be wrong in respect to game design.

What you’re up against is choice & Risk vs Reward. Each tool in your kit has a use and a cost and potentially a shared CD to make you think about its use, and how best to use it.

Good day.

Everyone seems to forget these classes were never designed for raids like we know them. When the classes were originally completed MC was not even done and BWL hadn’t even been drawn up.

The content planned and the complete mass of the class designs as a kit were built for Leveling, World PvP, Dungeons of smaller scale (5 - 15 players) and battle grounds (talked about in early beta interviews)

Considering all those things were the focus of the class designs; I give them a solid 9.5/10 on execution. By 1.12 9.9/10 and even then a solid 7/10 for raid PVE since gear options are / were the biggest limiting factor for most of the complaints.

You could solve world hunger and the lack of toilets and floors in org with that data!
