Hey everyone! Hope everyone has been enjoying SoD and fresh!
I feel like one of the biggest detractors and barrier to entry from WPvP is Dishonorable Kills. The legendary battles we remember fondly like Southshore vs. Tarren Mill or any attack on Orgrimmar or Stormwind (my favorite part of WoW) doesn’t often happen when there are such drastic stakes like losing rank for someone accidentally killing a civilian.
To let us relive those epic battles guilt free I’m asking you (the community) and Blizzard to repeal the Dishonorable Kill system, or to at least make it no longer reduce honor. I think the world would be significantly better with this change.

Agreed. I miss the days of invading Westfall and Duskwood only to end up facing a dozen lvl 60s who flew on over from Stormwind.

Then people will just do the thing DK’s were meant to discourage.

Here is why your argument doesn’t work: they removed Dishonorable Kills in TBC and the world didn’t end. The only thing that would change is we would have more fun on the PvP server.

people who want to DK just create alts. and its actually better for them because DK griefing is a thing, they will purposefully get people DKS. many horde players trying to get DMF buff when its in elwynn know this.

Exactly this. Today people are using Civilians to grief people in the open world by luring them into battles. That’s not fun or cool or clever. It’s stupid and it punishes fun.
Easy solution is to make all civilians non-attackable.

Instead, it could result in deaths and reduction of XP/levels. So if someone in a raid of level 60s kills a civilian, everyone in the raid would die and lose 1.5 levels of experience.
I think that would be a much better change. QoL sucks. Lack of QoL is what makes Classic fun. If you want to make changes, remove QoL, imo and make Classic actually fun.

This is a problem, please see the other thing I wrote about them being used for griefing.
Wpvp is already a massive degeneracy fest, and DKs are the one thing kind of keeping towns safe
The safety of towns should be the responsibility of the guards and the players.
Dishonorable kill griefing entire raid is dumb.

100%! It happened on Crusader Strike and I’m afraid it’s going to happen here too.
Just make old Civ’s unkillable.

I got de-ranked from 13 to 12 in era because someone asked me to help summon, but it was a trap. They killed a civ right after joined. Potentially costing people entire weeks time is pretty lame.

I want dishonorable kill titles

This would be a great idea for sod. An evil character council that would reward you for going hated with Cenarion Circle/Argent Dawn and maybe even the Steamwheedle cartel that would reward the right to buy new mounts, titles and cosmetics.
If I was looking for an argument this wouldn’t do much in the way of refuting it. We’re not playing TBC. TBC did away with Vanilla’s ranking system. As far as Era is concerned, TBC doesn’t exist.
I’m not a fan of DK’s. I do think they work against world pvp or used too back in the day at least. There have been cases where people don’t care about DKs and go ham on towns and a ton of examples of people accidentally or purposefully messing up a pvp raid with DKs so to me its kind of a half crocked deterrent that failed as a solution but this is what we signed up to play.
I’m also not ignorant of the fact that someone, somewhere would grief all day everyday if there was less consequences for it. It is what it is. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
Players created the problem which required some kind of attention and then yeah, the players just make alts to side step it. Its a no win situation all the way around.
We said we wanted Vanilla warts and all and Era had to go through a slew of changes to accommodate “modern gaming attitudes and behavior” already and this would just be a change for the sake of change.
Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing at all and that will always be the case with Era. Even if its a change that I like I’m not going to let my personal biases intrude on what this is supposed to be.
If you mean not targetable for pvp I would agree. Making them invincible in a fight makes no sense. But even then it should be kept in mind that civilian kills aren’t illegal they’re just not helpful to rankers. Blizz wanted pvpers in battlegrounds and built a system in support of that.
I get not being able to Anakin the younglings, that’s kind of pushing it a little too far but murdering civilians in enemy towns fits a two faction war narrative like Era’s.
