Why didn't i have to do dungeon quests to move on in the campaign in SL but in older expacs i need to?

So… I might be remembering this wrong…but I did SL with a friend three years ago, and I don’t remember having to run through dungeons and raids to proceed in the storyline.

I’m doing BFA and Legion now and I have to? I have to raid to progress within the campaign, too. And is there a way to get npcs followers in these dungeons cuz i dont wanna have to ping my friends or guildies everytime i need help to progress, and i dont wanna get to lvl 80 n one shot everyone as well, unless i’m done w 3/4 of the whole campaign, anyone knows a work around lol

You are remembering wrong.

The Covenant Campaigns in Shadowlands required you to dungeons. Not many, but some. But those campaigns didn’t start until you had reached max.

Or are you talking about levelling your character? You should be able to get through Legion and BfA levelling storyline without dungeons - and certainly without raids! - AFAIR.

If you are laking about doing the level-cap campaigns for each expansion while your character is levelling, the game has no intention that you should do that.
