What the title says. Why did we only get vanilla and not tbc or Wrath hardcore?

TBC Era and WotLK Era servers with our character copies do sound great.
I don’t think tbc/wotlk hc would be as popular has vanilla hc to be honest.
I believe it has to do with community fracturing? Like… Every time they make a new thing like classic, wrath and now hardcore you must take from the already existing communities to fill these new servers.
So… that’s like weakening the overall health of the game. But I suppose they could always consolidate their servers and do this but I don’t think as many people would want to progress in all of them… So somewhere there would be loss.
Too many versions is not good. It would just split up the community too much.
We already have
- Retail
- Wrath
- Era (merged into SoM afaik)
- HC
and we are getting extra: - Wrath Era (likely with Cata release)
- SoM2 (on top of Era and HC)
And if we were to add HC to TBC and wrath
- TBC era
- TBC HC
- Wrath HC
That’d be total of 9 stand alone versions with zero population overlap. Waaaay too much.
Vanilla is iconic. For a lot of people it’s just “best” version for some reason. I find it utterly unplayable. But to each their own.
TBC is not really that good. And not that iconic either. It’d honestly be DOA if ever released.

what’s the point in Wrath Hardcore? you literally can’t beat ICC because there’s a scripted death and therefore you would lose your character immediately

Well said, i just don’t think we will get Wrath Era because 5 (Retail, Classic, Era, SoM 2, HC) version is already enough. At some point Blizzard just can’t support that many version and then you have barren wastelands such as SoM up until HC where there is literally nothing to do. And especially for Wrath, there way too many pserver alternatives with insane life support where people can go when there is nothing new.
I don’t think having variety would hurt the game. Classic era, even if it was low pop, still had players through TBC and wotlk classic. People will play what they want to play regardless of pop if we had more servers. People who want TBC, cata, pandas, hell even WoD, shouldn’t be shoehorned into either classic, wotlk, or retail. We fought for a long time for legacy servers, and we shouldn’t gatekeep what eras are allowed or not allowed. You can’t even play some expansions on unofficial servers, so a reintroduction may actually be a good idea.

If enough ppl want to play shadowlands classic, who is anyone to deny them that?

I really enjoyed Shadowlands. It had it’s issues, but most of them were mechanical and not the actual raw gameplay. Too many covenant restrictions and poor catch up mechanic were it’s killers. So if SL were to release with all 9.2.5 QOL and improved AoE cap, it’d be great.
But nevertheless, when it gets to SL-C, I don’t think there need to be
- BFA era
- Legion era
- WoD era
- MoP era
- Cata era
- Wrath era
- SoM
- Era
- HC

Nah, TBC and Wrath hardcore are totally moot. Once you have a flying mount the world is remarkably less dangerous. That, plus the gear itemization improvements, leveling squish, and more powerful talents and abilities would make a hardcore 1-80 completely trivial.
The only people that would know this don’t read the forum nor would bother to answer. But I believe they’re still trying to milk classic, even though that husk dried up long ago.
I, and I’m sure others too, would go back into TBC again even if not everyone flocked to it. You only need 5 for a dungeon and 25 for a raid. Besides that, everything else is solo content. A server with ~1000 is just fine. HC should be a togglable mode in character creation anyway. No reason for them to have their own servers.

Probably gonna start with classic first then go to TBC then Wrath.
I personally would love to see wrath hc Don’t really care about tbc Personally but honestly I think the reasons pretty simple it just doesn’t have to The demand.
Heck I’ll even go even further I wish they would do a hc for df too Cause I personally find it fun but I do think they would have to do some Tuning Specifically for The health and damage of the mobs and dragonflight.
Don’t get me wrong, no, you are not immortal while leveling in dragon flight or wrath But sometimes it does feel A little Too easy depending on what you’re doing.
It’s still fun though At least I think so It just doesn’t have the popularity Let it does for classic.
Because leveling was nerfed since and it wouldn’t be the same?
