Why did we get rid of Reforging? Honestly?

Looking back at it, I genuinely do not understand why we didn’t keep Reforging around.

It was a good system, people liked it… what gives? :frowning:

Isn’t reforging basically just part of crafting now? Technically it’s still here.

Bc it made gear drops not matter. Only ilvl was ever king bc you could just swap stats

They got rid of it when you no longer needed to be hit and expertise capped.

First boss down, loot distributed.
“Need a summon back, going to reforge my gear.”

Next boss down, loot distributed.
“Need another summon, reforging again.”

Oh no.

Anyways…

Because they dropped Hit and Expertise . No need for it after that . early in a patch you reforged into Hit and experise - later on you reforged out once you got capped .

This is the answer. Hit and expertise caps HAD to be met, but any rating over the cap gave you 0 DPS, so you’d need reforging to both meet those caps while also not going over. Haste, Mastery, Vers, and Crit will all increase your DPS, regardless. Sure, one stat might be better for you than another, but they all will increase your damage.

You don’t understand because you refuse to understand; the mark of intentional ignorance. Cheers.

Nah, it’s not ignorance.

It’s literally a non-issue.

Because we no longer have hit/expertise to dance around.
It’s a lame excuse though since secondary tuning overall would always be helpful.

But it’s part of their (former) “let gear be gear” philosophy, which kinda went down the drain with upgrades.

Not any different from upgrading, except you’re limited by currency.

Since we get 2 stats now from gear, it would be op

This. 10chars

After been playing Cata for the last several months, not being able to reforge stats is just such a mind bending conundrum.

Like, why did they remove it? It’s so awesome to be able to swap the stats around, it makes gearing much more fun and more interesting.

The current gear in retail wow is the most boring, bland, and uninspired systems I’ve ever seen.

Because used to be you’d plug every piece of gear into a sim to see if it was better and how to reforge all your pieces to make it the best it could be, etc.

Now you still sim but there’s none of the reforging 15 pieces to make sure you’re hit/expertise capped, etc.

It’s a dumb reason. Like, it’s the dumbest reason.
So, why aren’t we removing flight paths? Those alos take time.
We do we travel to dungeons? That takes time.
Why does gear break?

98% of the game is inconvenience in some shape of form…

Same as we do now…

As a restoration shaman, having mastery on my gear makes me sad. I’d rather have Verse or Haste or Crit. :frowning:

Maybe one day Blizzard will make Restoration shaman’s mastery not suck.

People couldn’t handle basic mathematics so they came to the forum and complained. It was a great system but, as usual, wow players threw a fit about something.

I’m having flashbacks.
What a horrific stat where you wanted to be 100% hit, but one point extra was wasted, meanwhile, god forbid you have 99% hit! So many people chanting the dangers of possibly missing 1% of the time.

Pretty sure they got rid of it from all the complaints it used to get on the forums about how to complex it made playing the game. Yes a lot of people found it to complicated.
