Why did they get rid of first aid?

Was there a reason for it? I mean, I’m a tailor, I don’t care, but it seems weird they scrapped it.

It was trivial in modern WoW

December 3rd 2017, there was an incident on the Zeppelin from Orgrimmar to STV. An undead was choking on a chicken bone and the hostess said “Help! He is choking, is anybody here a medic!?”

Everyone got up and rushed over all exclaiming to be medics, off-balancing the weight onboard causing the Zeppelin to skew off course and hit a tree.

Ever since, all Hospitals stopped offering first-aid training.

Geez, that’s terrible. Is the Forsaken ok?

He’s dead. But yes.

Now that’s some championship-level trolling. Dude didn’t even need to breathe, conned a hostess into thinking he was choking, and look what happened.

I truly don’t know whether I should be impressed or appalled.

At some point they removed it when they starting giving sustain to everyone, but in unequal amounts.

But it’s funny because some classes have way more sustain than others, like Warlocks can just play normally and stay alive, along with Paladins, Warriors.

And the classes with the best sustain can stay in the fight, basically forever.

Meanwhile, if playing my WW monk for example, I’ve gotta stop everything I’m doing to go heal myself, with my crappy non-instant-cast heals, usually out of line-of-sight so I don’t get interrupted.

It’s bad, mostly because of how unbalanced it’s been.

If they removed everyone’s automatic self-healing, First Aid would have a place, and cloth would be farmed and sold more often.

Just another aspect of removing the RPG from the MMORPG. It was a profession that just no longer exists now.

I guess everyone innately has first-aid knowledge, which is impressive if you consider how long and expensive medical school is. WoW must be a great place for that, lol.

This would kill Enhancement Shamans, we’re mega squishy enough and our self-heals are basically our Damage Reduction, on top of that Gift of the Naaru has saved my glorious azure keister more than First Aid has ever done.

That’s what I mean, it varies wildly between the classes.

Some classes don’t have to think about sustain at all, because it’s so automatic, like Demon Hunters.

Why cant it be both? Youre impalled, or applessed.

As to the op, its because first aid as a skill didnt really have much use in current wow.

First aid was fun. I liked as a warrior being able to heal random people and NPCs. Saved my life in oldschool battegrounds more times than I could possibly count. Was also useful in some old legacy raid farming. And I don’t know. Leveling it up was just something to do…

The more stuff like this they take away the less it feels like an immersive RPG. I is sad.

I miss it too tbh. It was great for my rogue or other melee classes and was so fun using on others in BGs or in the open world.

Because they did not want to have to put in the time it would take to redesign it to make it useful.

It was practically useless when you have Alchemy involved doing the same job but better. so they gave the First Aid job to Tailor since all the cloth reagents are mostly used by them anyways.

But so is archeology

The difference is Archeology sucks because Blizzard doesn’t make content for it, first aid sucks because it is useless

Both Expel Harm and Vivify are instant cast with the former I believe still being rotational.

I’m still annoyed at that last first aid achievement in Legion. I didn’t even come close to getting all the message for help on any single character, just a thin scattering across all my alts.

Reminds me of when tyrande tried to choke sylvannas to death… she doesn’t breath.
