Nobody wants to take away dragon flying for those that love it …we just want to be able to fly normal flying without having to jump though all kinds of hoops and walls…with this pathfinder mess…its BS…dragon flying was handed out free with no rep grind…this pathfinder is locked behind rep grinds…
I’m referring to those who don’t want regular flying. I fully support flying of all types unhindered. Blizzard learned with this xpack that people love to fly, why it took this long is beyond me.
For those who don’t want to fly, you don’t have to. For those that do, you should fly in the way you want, with the hundreds of mounts you’ve earned or purchased through the years.
Its really not hard, all you have to do is respect people.
Sorry I miss understood…trying to get things done and be ready for Running of the Gnomes today…again sorry…
No worries and good luck with the run, I did mine this morning. I wish there was an achievement for it but its still fun to do.
You did the in game event not the real race we have on Scarlet Crusade realm at 4pm PST/7PM EDT…there is a real race we do each year on SC realm …https://www.wowhead.com/news/running-of-the-gnomes-charity-event-on-october-14th-4pm-pdt-335507#comments
OOhhh, Awesome! I will be there. Thank you.
Your most welcome hun…hugs…see you there…
Pathfinder as an idea, sure, the execution has been almost universally hated. Back when the debacle was started, I was suggesting earning flight via doing things like:
- exploration
- Main storylines
- rep (likely just honored or whatever could be earned from doing the story, in DF that might be like Renown 10)
- maybe a handful of WQs
- and of course, reaching max level
The thing is, I was of the thought that doing it would unlock flight for the content we did it, I.E. in legion it would unlock flight for all but Suramar, then with the patch that finished that story we could unlock flight there and then repeat for Broken Shore and maybe even Argus.
What we got was Blizzard monkey pawing it by not splitting it up via content and releasing it all at once.
Will i be able to torpedo normal mounts with my dragon?
Well, he did get a response from a Blizzard dev who confirmed it is not intended and will be resolved in a later PTR build, so everyone, relax! ![]()
Folks will use both. DR for long distance
Tbc for precise things like gathering
Tbc when you have a vigor miscalculation
I love TBC flying.
I am loud and proud to say it!

Here’s the thing that shouldn’t have been a thing and that’s honestly not fair. They should do the same to dragon riding in old content instead of allowing you to choose between the two of them.
The thing about this situation is that I prefer normal flying. It’s more chill and I don’t need to be paying attention to it every second I’m at it.
But, however, I will not do a pathfinder when I could get all the dragon glyphs in like 20 minutes. Which I did.
With all the glyphs, it’s pretty hard to run out of gas. You just need to pay attention every moment you’re in the air. That’s suboptimal to me but not to the degree that I will grind five renowns from 1 to 20 or whatever arbitrary number they want.
I also understand that some people just are not good at the dragon. I’m one of those people, but it’s more that I understand the “fly vertical then glide from the ceiling” meta and find it kind of stupid.
If people want oldschool flying, they shouldn’t be made to do all this crap. I personally will not be getting the pathfinder because it takes longer to get it than I will spend in the air annoyed the entire expansion.
It’s just silly. There are people who need it and they aren’t even considering them. It’s a downgrade to anyone who can put up with it, so I don’t even know who this pathfinder is supposed to appeal to.
SL’s pathfinder was legitimately easy. I thought we were past this. Let people move in the way that makes the most sense to them, the downside to normal flying is that it is slow, you don’t need to pile onto that.
Do you have the numbers on this? Because you are the only one I’ve seen that is fine with it.
Sort of. We still get conventional flying after jumping thru quite the tedious series of hoops, at the very end of the expansion now. But they will never let us have it the way we used to, at max level for gold. And certainly not like the way it was in wrath… you only had to be level 77 or 78 if I recall correctly. ![]()
edit: brain fart
Not at end of expansion, just at max level (TBC, MoP), 78 (Wrath) or even 60 for Cataclysm.
Are you trolling or just new to the game?
When flying was introduced to the game it just required gold. It stayed that way from TBC->MoP.
WoD added pathfinder after the uproar that flying was removed. We then continued with that non-sense through SL.
DF added flying in the form of DR without pathfinder.
So not sure what you mean by “since its inception”. This is just false.
Pathfinder is asinine in 2023 and frankly, just proves to me that the devs haven’t actually learned anything. “You think you do, but you don’t”.
Frankly they should about face on pathfinder or at best swap from flying to some capstone DR/reg flying mount for the xpac (like Raszageth mog). All of a sudden, people will want to do PF rather than feeling obligated to (or just skipping it entirely and settling for DR).
I said PF’s inception since I was asked about dr being put behind pf. I would not have an issue with that if that would have been how they chose to introduce it.
Not how flight was introduced. The days of flying at cap or gold are gone.
Original flight was introduced without PF. They added it after the fact.
No different than if they chose to add PF to DR after the fact. Arbitrary is arbitrary.
