Why did the Spider's Silk market crash?

I’ve been playing the Spider’s Silk market on the AH, buying when people dump it below 20s and selling at the usual rate of 40s-1g. But since AQ came out, the price has crashed to under 10s. What’s going on? Where are people farming all this easy Spider’s Silk?

(For those not familiar with it, it’s used for low-level blues from tailoring and leatherworking, and two are required for the expensive Robe of Arcana used by warlocks in their quest to create their Enchanted Golden Bloodrobe.)

If I had to hazard a guess, it’s because lots of folks actually doing LBRS now that the tier .5 set quest chain is out, and all those little spiders drop it pretty frequently.

LBRS is also a good way to load up on the temporary poison cleansing items to use inside AQ. I suspect more players will be doing this before their own clears.

On the subject of market crashes, Arcane Crystals have dropped to around 38g on my server in the past week or two. Never seen them so cheap. Usually 50-60g. I’m wondering if this is a temporary lull in the market or is there something that has caused demand to drop?

Like the Spider stuff and LBRS, DM East is getting run a lot more now thanks to the tier .5 quest chain.

I would expect these markets to steady over time though since people generally only need to run the quest chain a limited number of times.

It’s been a steady decline on all servers. As BWL was close to being released the prices of arcane crystals skyrocketed to support all the thunderfuries being crafted. In the months since, the demand as dropped and prices are as well. I’d highly reccommend stocking up before phase 6! T3 tokens require loads of arcane crystals to buy your T3 and the prices will shoot up again.

All that aside, I FINALLY got the Eye of Sulfuras this weekend. I’m loving the low arcane crystal price. Haha

Was like that for a couple days on my server, not shot back up.

Dot is always a great source of up to date, reliable information!

people started farming spiders in that level range for venom sacs for elixir of poison resistance to fight Viscidus in AQ. Those same mobs drop the spider silk you’re talking about, so the supply is way higher right now then it has been in the past

I’ve never paid more than 10-15s for this across multiple servers. Looks like you found one server you could make it work on. Good luck going forward

lol spiders silk market.

dude, that’s not good money. you should have done something more lucrative if you wanted to play the ah.

The Robe of Arcana is great money when you’re not a 60. It’s been quite a reliable source for my alts’ mount money. End game trade is quite a different matter.

Because everyone is in wetlands in the cave farming venom sacs for elixirs of poison resistance to fight Viscidius and one of the things the spiders drop is… spider silk.

mostly bots.

So there I was, in Duskwood, wondering why a level 41 horde mage is in the west part near Mor’Ladim. I followed it and soon found out it was a Grave Moss farming bot.
Grave moss on our server is now 2g per and there is a Horde Bot farming the entire Duskwood supply.
Not only this, the auction house bots buy low and resell high because they are auction house bots.

Ehh I farmed up about 150 and I am not a bot.

Many people are farming the level 25ish spiders for Large Venom Sacs for AQ as well. Those drop Spider’s Silk.
