Hunter here (level 27 atm). With no warning, my wolf pet just LEFT. It was always well fed, mended, well-trained, etc. – totally up to date … so, with no warning, it just “ran away.” – I have NO IDEA why. Is this just “something that can happen for no reason?” – So now I need to start over completely with an untrained replacement wolf. Any ideas WHY this happened?
Hmm… another bug to add to the hunter bug list, perhaps?
Are you sure it didn’t dismiss? Did you try summon pet?
Yeah, attempting to summon was the first thing I did. “You do not have a pet,” or something similar.

Seems like a bug. Not sure why it would just vanish if it’s happiness and loyalty was high. What was the situation when it left?
Were you fighting something? Were you running around? Was it on passive?
I keep the pet on follow always, using attack and call-pet commands, am currently using Immolation Trap on most kills, to do some double-wield melee and save on mana, just grinding for rep. It was like any other kill (raptor in Wetlands), except the pet just poof disappeared. I now have to basically start over training the new pet. Oh well. – I guess I’ll report it as a possible bug …
It’s not in the stables? If you stable a pet and try to summon pet it will give you that exact error message. I would suggest checking stables to be sure?
Good idea. I’ll check the stables. – I already reported this as a possible BUG. If it IS in the stables, then I’ll need to amend the bug report.
Wouldn’t that be weird if it shows up later, looking all rugged, with matted fur, maybe carrying a dead rat in its mouth as a present, to show you that it loves you.

LOL! Funny thought. NO, it’s not in the stables. I already have a spider in the stables. I prefer the wolf (newest is a mastiff) – The next cost to stable a pet is FIVE GOLD, which I do not have at the moment. Hah!

I’ve heard of people going afk awhile and this happening. Likely in their situation, he got hungry and left.

You sure it was well fed? Typically runs away if you don’t feed it every now and then to keep it happy lol
If it dies 3 times in a row within, say an hour, it will run away. Classic you really need to be in top of its love meter
No it won’t.
A pet running away is based upon loyalty/happiness levels. The OP clearly stated he was fine in this regard.
You know that last beast you killed? That was your pet’s childhood friend. You broke his heart, man!

Not even a pet can stand an hunter, he suicide in self defense
If it was well fed and happy, its a bug. They wont run unless they are happy for an extended period.
