Why did Blizzard keep killing blood elves?

Their race barley survived and then with Dragonflight Blizzard just kills more of them. Respectatly the one Guard of the dragonscale expedition and the kirin tor mage. What is the point Blizzard? Why don’t you kill some human or dwarf characters for a change? Or are you afraid of the reaction from the alliance community who starts crying by the smallest incovenience? Your bias is showing Blizzard and it is very ugly.

Funny you should mention this:

That is still nothing compared to the loss Blood elves suffered since Warcraft 3.

Its fine, really. As much as belfs has been disgraced by soy writers since end of TBC, its nothing in compare to non-stop-lore-r*&e-train which is the night elfs “”“lore”“”. I hear the latest deep thrust by devs into warm nelf’s lore - is nelf warlocks. OH, LOL. I wonder, those people who is RP rage over the burn tree, how do they feel, about their race’s “”“lore”“” and identity being chipped away bit by bit, every expansion.

It’s honestly…complicated. Like it goes back years…complicated. This will be a big post, sorry.

Firstly regarding that quest with Lathos Sunband, yes I also hated he died. He was heroic and we slowly build a sort of kinship with him. His death was tragic as was the events he went through in life. I honestly think many felt bad for him but tragedy does happen.

Speaking of tragedy….it was the go to for the Bloodelf story for awhile…to emphasise the change the writers and creators wanted to illustrate for our own unique concept of High Elves in Warcraft.

It first worked very well for WC3 and TBC (Kael’thas aside), but…went off the rails. The issue was different writers with different view points and opinions over what a clearly popular race should be or should not be. People like elves, it’s unfortunate at times but yeah many like the idea of beauty, mystery, lean, agile, humanoids.

Unfortunately one of the biggest culprits that caused the absolute mess was the writer that introduced Vereesa and wrote her story and her involvement concept for Wrath. He was a huge elf fan and created Vereesa in the books to marry his own DnD character (Rhonin) because frankly Alleria was already taken. She then had his game babies (yes I know…creepy), and he very much wanted the blood elf story to not have happened but rather they stay Alliance.

He eventually gets the boot and leaves but the damage was done with a massive divide and more “fighting and conflict” that was already planted and needs to be followed through. Elements were already there for MoP with more blood elf death, Jania’s orchestrated genocide, and Garrosh.

They all become friends again but then comes elements of further war, as well as people that played Wrath and forward wanting Alleria and “Alliance high elves” as they were shown. The domino effect kept going. Alleria comes back, fights more with blood elves just because, and they give void elves… and then more fighting.

It became a never ending story of racial tension and death with elements of happiness through marriage apparently.

And that’s the story of why death follows Bloodelves whenever they go. It’s almost a given now.

Sunband died to make the human explorer he protected look good. Once again the alliance character gets pushed on the expanse of my favorite race. I will never forgive Blizzard.

She’s already dead.
We met her in the Shadowlands.
Why are you pretending you’re losing something?

And why are we pretending the death of two blood elves(who Erevien didnt even bother to remember the name of,Lathos Sunband being one of them, dont know who the other one is ) is some great tragedy?

Heck, he wants a dead dwarf, we have https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Sheridon_Hastle

Ultimately though, I would say being forced to go back and have to kill Amber ourselves is just as a big of an emotional gut punch(if not greater) then two characters who had no backstory getting killed in DF.

Humans are not close to extinction. All elves however are.

Then the blood elves should probably stay in their precious city and never leave for a few generations.

Also so funny you moved the goal post. I showed you a dead named dwarf and you are still not happy.

90% of the entire race is dead.
Blood Elves are the only race in the game with a stated percentage lost.

But, I don’t give one single heck about nameless NPCs.
He’s right to be mad because the Horde bleeds named characters every expansion, and the Alliance (definitely night elves) almost never lose any in a decade.

Meanwhile draenei had only a few hundred flee Argus. And then either 80 or 90% died depending on your source.

The orcs killed over eighty percent of the draenei race:[19] approximately nine of every ten individuals.[24]

Pretty sure gnomes also had that 80-90 number. Oh and dont forget the void elves. Hell, orcs use to populate an entire world now they are down to one city. I am also certain the night elves are not doing great right now(although Blizzard smartly decided to go with a vague “there are too few night elves” statement as oppose to giving a number)

I dont know, maybe we can see a few of your cities and towns burned and destroyed for a few expansions and see if that will be worth seeing more of our named NPCs dead.

Again. Orgrimmar is not popular. We don’t mind cities because what we got is nothing to care about in the First place. Bovan and the two blood elves are just the latest example. With the exception of shadowlands Blizzard kills our named characters for a giggle.

What’s your source, zerde?

no race but belves have ever had a percentage lost attached to them.

You’ve conquered Orgrimmar (and Broken the Horde) twice. You’re actually in the deficit, given that it’s the most powerful Horde city in the setting, not us.

This bloody conflict lasted nearly eight years, but the orcs’ triumph was unequivocal. The orcs killed over eighty percent of the draenei race:[19] approximately nine of every ten individuals.[24] and sent the rest fleeing for safety to the remote corners of the world.

Try again mr liar. https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Gnome

Though they fought valiantly to save their beloved city, Gnomeregan was lost and nearly eighty percent of the gnomish race was wiped out during its fall. The ragged survivors fled to the safety of Ironforge.[15]

Last I check us “conquering” Ogrimmar meant we freed the city and we didnt even get to kill either Garrosh(that was Thrall) or Sylvanas. In fact, the city was relatively intact.

Wowpedia is not a source, it’s a list of sources with brief educational overviews on topics.
Provide the source, liar.

For instance, you didn’t check the source you’re lying about.
But I did.

Gnomeregan was lost and nearly eighty percent of the gnomish race was wiped out during its fall. The ragged survivors fled to the safety of Ironforge.[15]

So, I went to the race page.

No mention of percentages. Liar.

:smirk:

This, however, is true.
The Draenei and Blood Elves are the only races with a stated percentage lost.

You are a bad researcher.

Could it be because gasp WoW’s website keeps getting updated and people dont alqays update WoWpedia? Having said that, this is VANILLA lore that you could have gotten if you bothered to checked the Manual.

At the command of the High Tinker Mekkatorque, the gnomes opened the pressure valves of their giant, grinding machines and released toxic radiation throughout the city. Though the radiation killed the troggs, the gnomes soon discovered that it killed their own people just as quickly. Nearly eighty percent of the gnomish race died within days. Those that survived evacuated the great city and fled to the protection of their dwarven cousins in Ironforge.
