Why destro can't have nice things?

This nerfs are illogical. 9.2 was released at Feb 22, it’s been 3 months, one short season with good procs and buffs that gived us destro locks a spotlight in high pvp and m+ setups. On the next expansion this set pieces will not exist anymore so why the nerf destro while alot of other classes that are already on top for multiple seasons are being buffed?

1 - Ritual of Ruin (2-piece bonus) now lasts 30 seconds (was unlimited).
2 - Summoning a Blasphemy (4-piece bonus) no longer stuns enemies.
3 - Demon Armor removed.

For PVP, why change the ritual of ruin if you are removing the stun? It make the the nerf even worst. We have like 2 Destruction players on top 100 3v3, if this stun or the proc was a real problem we would have a lot more. Like we have 11 pallys on top 100 3v3, and not a single nerf on the class. WTF? 15 warriors on top 100 3v3, not a single nerf.
So why only destructions? We have been saying this here a long time, there’s no destruction dev on the team, they probably just play random, see someone doing a combo on pvp and think “lol this is OP”, and don’t think twice before setting a nerf. The dev comment about this was " strategy of disengaging from the fight except in rare moments where the Warlock can setup huge burst " LOL, really? This is the PVP 101 basics, why bother? Mage does that, priest does that, everyone does that, this looks like a targeted nerf without a real reason to me.
And how about Demon Armor? What’s that? They are concern that we are too tanky? We don’t have any 100% imune like half of the other classes, we have to be tanky. We don’t want more health, since we don’t have this much self healing (taking about destro here), this health buff doesn’t work, they have tried this before, stop this nonsense.

For PVE on m+ the Ritual nerf won’t affect much, so why bother doing it? Just to remove the fun? The infinite kyrian buff was the problem, fix this, not the set pieces. This kyrian bug is the only thing that put destro in a broken class position and only in some specific fights of the raid, not the other things that was nerfed. Good god they keep the Blasphemy stun on PVE, i would litteraly leave the game if they remove this, because of this stun we can do some nice pulls on high m+, the cc power that we never had before now can be used.

I’m back on the game after a break on the patch 9.1 and for the first time since Pandaria was having fun playing as destro. The spec isn’t broken, there’s no need for this nerf.
It’s not like anything was broken on the class, it was good for sure, it was fun, and viable on both, PVP and PVE. Now probably will be a sheet tier again for PVP, and will be less fun for PVE and for what? Is Blizzard this judicious on class balance? I think there’s a lot of other broken things on game rn that are way more broken than this stun and didn’t get a nerf.

Speaking from a PvP perspective resolve trinket+destro being good made destro suuuuuuper unfun to fight. Maybe if resolve trinket wasn’t a thing I would be more against the nerfs, but :person_shrugging:

Point made, but there’s a lot of annoying fights that us as destro have in PvP, and just this as an argument is not a reason to nerf since there’s no reflect of this gameplay on top 100 3v3 and 2v2 ranks.

Resolve trinket protecting interrupts also isn’t a thing anymore.

If resolve trinket never made it live I doubt these nerfs wouldnt have happened but since it did you literally had destro locks just standing still free casting insane damage that couldnt be stopped with no counter play to it. It was super bad for the game.

Well the thing is that Blizzard should never base the game around the top 100 players, they should focus more on the people in 1800-2400 range. I have only done rated since 8.3 but when destro lock is good it’s great, meaning it becomes a turret that doesn’t die. Against a rank 1 destro probably isn’t that hard to deal with. But when in the average player range of 1800-2400 it becomes a whole different beast.

Same. I am shocked that they removed essential PVP things. I for one enjoyed Demon Armor, it honestly should just be base passive for all locks but they removed it entirely. Wtf. Then they removed the purpose of a giant ball of fel rock stunning INSIDE a hotbed CC environment. These changes are implemented only to break the Warlock class because they don’t want cloth-based classes to have an advantage on Melee. It’s irritating we have to deal with borrowed power micro progression systems but we also have to completely change our builds to compensate for their patch to patch let’s throw pasta at the wall and see what sticks philosophies.

Destro has been top damage for quite some time, by a lot. I wouldn’t have minded a damage nerf so much but these nerfs, especially the armor nerf hurts survivability, which sucks.

Rolling Lock really sucks now. Especially in the Brawl. Demon Armor wasn’t that beefy to begin with eventually the lock could be taken down. I hate these changes so much.

Let’s forget that playing lock as a whole in season 1 was not fun at all against pretty much all melee cleaves yet nothing happened to make it better for lock in season 1.

Destro and especially Destro/Frost mage were extremely broken.

The nerfs were warranted though I think damage should have been nerfed over demon armor.

Yes- DAMAGE should have been nerfed. Not DA. They hurt our survivability when it wasn’t warranted and it sucks.

You don’t see any lock mage comp in top 100 2v2. This is a false impression, probably taken from lower brackets.

2v2 means absolutely nothing.
3v3 is the bracket that matters. Mage/lock/healer was absolutely broken which is why it was nerfed.

Even then mage/demo/healer is still strong.

Ok? Destro was hard nerfed. Last week.

Top100 in any bracket also doesn’t mean anything.

Frost mage/Destrolock/priest was 100% the meta comp.
