So I’m never going to advocate for calling someone incompetent, or stupid. And the devs obviously have access to more information that we do. But what changes like this “feel” like, is them turning a spigot, to slow a flow down, and seeing how far they can turn it, without the flow shutting off completely. It “feels” manipulative, and that’s why people get cranky.
Big brain reasoning lol
When you unsub the page literally tells you to go to the forums and give reasons why though lol.
While I’m normally fine with telling people to relax and wait, something like this really deserves a post from Blizzard. Something as simple as “We know this is an issue and we’re looking into it” or an explanation of why the change was made.
People don’t know how to design a game, this is true. But there’s no denying how truly horrific Blizzard is and has been when it comes to open communication and dialogue. People wouldn’t be so upset and frustrated with something like this if they saw the issue trending on the forums (as it is) and put out a statement. The information is there for them, and they claim to read the forums. Yet there hasn’t been a word on this. They almost never talk anymore, especially compared to years ago. And yes, the forums are part of that reason. But that has further caused issues on the forums by having no form of communication.
They continue to say they’re going to do better and continue to fail at that. This has only fostered a person’s opinion and view of them not caring. Perception is everything, and Blizzard is displaying themselves as a company who doesn’t care, hence threads and issues like this.
All game relevant data will trump public opinion though, because you have a lot of people just constantly venting frustration.
If you only listened to public opinion, the game would swing wildly in its goals daily.
You have to look at what is actually happening, first and foremost.
Not what people are saying.
Are you going to keep doing this quest after they changed this?
If so, then there is likely no evidence that Blizzard has made a bad decision, from the data’s perspective.
And that’s the core issue.
People constantly say they hate stuff they do all the time.
I guarantee you if every player in the game stopped doing stuff they didn’t like, the game would change because of such.
acti-blizz is basically milking what they view as a dying cow as hard as they can.
they’re slowly making the game worse in the long term, in order to maximize short term profits by making it LOOK like players are playing the game more to investors with metrics. They know nobody likes the ingot change.
Frankly, this type of thing is borderline fraud in my opinion.
Is green text authorized Blizzard defender? Do they pay you? I want to make some money too. XD
Have you never heard the phrase word of mouth is the best publicity? Churn rate, customer health/satisfaction, First Contact Resolution Rate, Customer Satisfaction Score, etc are all vital metrics…and seeing how even just a small sample of the player base (the forums) has so much dissension…I cannot imagine those statistics are healthy in corporate.
Excuse me?
Excuse me. This is a videogame. Sir, this is not a Wendy’s. And even at Wendy’s, if you are unhappy with the food, they give you your money back or try to make it right.
Hey dude. It’s a videogame. Players are supposed to enjoy it. Every single thing IS supposed to benefit players.
Oh I’m sure it does. But once you open your mind up to more than just how it “feels” you will see and understand things better.
You can not design a game based on a person’s “feelings” alone.
There is a LOT more out there to consider, and of course, bugs occur all the time that cloud that approach.
Because once upon a time we all loved this game and many of us are addicted and don’t want to let go. We keep hoping it will get better when it rarely ever does.
Engagement metrics != fun/enjoyment.
Of course it was a bug. Still, it was working perfectly fine. Just because it was backlogged for 3 months because there are much more important issues to fix doesn’t mean this is necessary. This is an unintended QoL improvement since Blizzard loves to talk about it and the steps they have taken. This fix is completely unnecessary.
profits , you seen acti income right
Same with every quest. Can’t share kill npc quest, can’t share the 250 amani quest, can’t share collection quest and decrease the spawns of all collectable for quest and NPC spawn rate mob needs to be kill for quest by 75%
Ya, sadly the lack of communication is a HUGE issue, and that wont be changing.
The community is far too hostile and the lines of communication are far too complicated now because of that.
The people who do the communicating have to go through a lot of hoops to even do so now, thanks to the fact that every single word they speak gets picked apart so heavily.
I wish things were different, and a better form of communication is the #1 thing I want to see improve about this game, but their reasons for it not improving are hard to deny.
Community wouldn’t be hostile if the game didn’t seem so obviously designed to pad content and waste time.
If things aren’t fun, stop engaging with them.
I promise, that will open eyes.
Words, sadly, have lost their meaning at this point.
LOL
“If u don’t like it uninstall.”
Yeah no. We are going to make our voices heard and get them to change it. That’s what these forums are for.
I’d say less of a bug and more of an oversight.
There are a lot of dailies and WQs in SL, and it’s impossible to know how they respect the existence of other people/party members until you’ve started. Battles Won Long Ago, for example, is one of the few quests I’ve done that does not share kill credit for a party member who did not tag the mob. You can still loot it, but it doesn’t count towards your “Kill X bad guys” condition. Other quests with clickables have one click count for the whole party, one click count for each of you with the item remaining (like the moth quest did), or one click and despawn (like the moth quest now does). It’s as though none of the people responsible for these quests are even aware of the others.
Of course not. But if you “felt” like a company was being manipulative with your time, would you continue to do business with that company?
Regardless of what their internal reasonings were, if it “feels” manipulative to its customers, they’re going to end up with a lot fewer customers…
