Why classic shouldn't get new content

So, if they did ever release, i dunno, BTC... They would remove the "Classic" title off of the game from that point forward?

I'm just going to get straight to the point with this.

If Blizzard started adding new content to classic, It could easily get to the point that people would start asking for Classic again.

And I don't think anyone wants to deal with that situation again.

You could have saved yourself a lot of effort by simply remaining in GD rather than coming in here to low-effort troll.
I think after so long they should release the next expansion because let's be honest no one will play the same content for 5 years.

3 years vanilla > release BC, 3 years BC> release wrath 3 years> release cata along with new Vanilla servers so the cycle may repeat.

If they do this, I really think they should keep any of the expansions they release no cross realm, no LFR, etc. and keep it as close to the Vanilla was to maintain a good economy among other things. Just my opinion.

I agree with most of this, I say screw cata and just jump right back into vanilla and run that cycle till its dead. Vanilla>BC>WoTLK>Vanilla>BC>WoTLK
It's remarkable how consistently constructions like "let's be honest" and "let's face it" stand in for "in my opinion."

For my part, if I'm informed that any server I play on will turn into a Cataclysm server within nine years, I'll lose interest in playing at all right there.

I'm thinking they could release "season" servers that reset content and wipe characters every couple years or something

Would you actually want to play on those servers, or is this a solution to a problem you perceive some other people as having?

Cause I'll tell you up front: I want an eternal 1.12 server. Not a "season" server where all my characters will be deleted in a couple years. And I see a lot of people propose the "regular wipe and reset" idea in the abstract, but I haven't seen a single person say "I want to play on a regular wipe and reset server, personally."

I would definitely enjoy playing on a seasonal server.

I would want my main to be on an eternal server, but I would also enjoy playing alts on seasonal.

This is why I would like to see both kinds of servers existing, so that everyone has the option to play the way they want.

There is one problem with this; server economy.

To which server would these characters be dumped on? Logically, they'd get a choice as to not break up communities, but with these characters copied over comes all the items in their bags, banks, and of course, their gold. Someone, or a group of people, on a seasonal server could spend a lot of time doing nothing but farming up valuable mats, or the gold itself, and then using it to their economic advantage on another server, disrupting its economy.

Say you're on an RP server, where even mediocre greens sell very well for the sake of RP sets, and someone on a seasonal server spends a heap of time buying cheap greens in the knowledge that they will transfer to this RP server to sell them for heaps. Give this a few seasonal cycles, and you've got quite a bit of inflation on your hands as more and more catch on.

I could see such a D3-type seasonal idea working, but only if both gold and BoE/tradeable items(such as mats) are wiped as well. All the characters would be able to take over are BoP's in their bags, and the gear they're wearing.

My solution to this would be to move them to a dedicated 'formerly seasonal' server or servers. Anyone who chooses to roll on that server (or those servers) directly would know that at the end of each season, there will be an influx of new characters.

what do you mean? are you saying you would rather not play the 8 years before leaving on the 9th? All we have is today, tomorrow isn't a gurantee for any of us. why make the future more important than the present?
