Why cap M+ at 220?

PvP gear scales to 233 for weapons and 226 for 2100. Good way to get BiS gear.

Raid goes to 226 majority, and end of raid 233. Good way to get BiS Gear.

New M+ system goes to 220 for KSM on 15 keys. Good way to get decent gear, but why the cap? This is the only end-game system with a cap of the 3. Why not follow in order and make 20 Keys around the board 226?

Not asking for 233 gear, just 226 from equivalent content. 2100 in PvP, Early Mythic Raid bosses drop 226… so why not upgrade to 226 via 20 keys? Seems fair to me…

Probably the same reason 15+s gives below heroic raiding gear.

They don’t know.

PvP gear is being nerfed in 9.1 and won’t be BIS gear for PvE anymore.

Oof… well it was good while it lasted I guess. That sucks :frowning:

With the new valor point upgrade system I think it’ll be more evenly balanced.

Yeah that’s what I’m arguing here though. M+ scales infinitely so its odd to me that they didn’t pick a point where you can upgrade to 226.

Likely because we’ll be seeing PvP gear no longer be usable in PvE, so they want to make sure highest ilvl BiS is raid gear.

I’m more interested in figuring out why we just get a recolor of the S1 KSM mount and seemingly won’t be getting any sort of unique armor set from dungeons. Like Christ, least we could get is a unique mount model if we don’t get special sets like raiding & PvP gets.

Because the second you’d reach KSM once, you’d stop playing.
You would just do easy stuff to get Valor cap and stop actually advancing.
Why do M15 for a bis trinket, when you can just go M2.

I would love that, but mostly with Resilience stat. In BFA you had to do PvE to do PvP, in Shadowlands all top tier raiders/M+ pushers are decked out in PvP gear. This just not right.

Cause dungeons are considered subpar content

I dunno, why do +10s give 220 gear from the vault when Heroic raids give 213? Stuff’s dumb.

I feel they did to m+ what they intended to do to pvp. I wish they would have brought it up to 226 but then why would we need the weekly vault?

It actually seemed obvious. Why would Blizzard introduce upgrades to ilvl 220 when PvP already has upgrades to 226? The answer is that they can’t take away the current upgrades people already have, but don’t want to set a false expectation with M+ upgrades going into s2. So they’ll force M+ers to tough it out, and then M+ should be on more even footing once season 2 rolls out and PvP gear isn’t BIS anymore.

PvP gear will still be the best for PvP, but you won’t be comparing M+ upgrades to PvP upgrades for M+ anymore, so that’s why it will work. And as far as M+ vs Raids, if you can get a 220 you want and a 226 from cache each week by the 2nd or 3rd week of s2, that’s pretty dang competitive with raids aside from the top end raid guilds. I think most people will be happy with the state of M+ in s2, although obviously that’s speculative on my part.

Because a 10 key and heroic raid are about on par with each other? I mean that part makes sense. One only gets 1 random item per week, the other has a chance for 2. So the 1 random item is slightly better.

Lol no they’re not.

Same reason PvP gets a vault currently, saves time & valor from having to upgrade a piece.

You right, 80% of CN is far easier than most 10 keys.

I’m going to see your argument, and raise you a “yes they are”.

Your move.

Their logic seems to be that it’s a spammable source of gear not hindered by currency or lockout, therefore it should reward lesser loot.

I’m not saying I agree with it, just pointing out their potential philosophy.

Because heroic raids drop actual loot, whereas currently M+ only has the cache each week. A full clear of Nathria awards roughly 2 per week + 1 from cache. M+ only awards 1 cache item currently. If you’re fully clearing Heroic Nathria, you also can get 220 from your cache, so you can potentially get the same thing as an M+ player while also getting a 213 and maybe a 2nd 220 each week.

Raiding is far ahead of M+ right now, you have things backwards if you think M+ is ahead. There’s a reason Blizzard literally went out of their way to come up with the Valor system - you’re simply incorrect.

Yeah I agree the current system makes zero sense

That and it being 5 man content. More over I believe Blizzard has also taken few steps back on this alternate progression model.
