I don’t understand why there isn’t some kind of vendor in the PTR that allows me to purchase the new raid items. I mainly PvP and I need to know how some of these trinkets actually work. For those of you who haven’t been on PTR, there is a new ring called Cursed Lover’s Ring with the following effect:
Use: Bind your ring to another Cursed Lover’s Ring for an entire week. Equip: Every 5 sec, sacrifice 6390 health (heroic version) to heal the wearer of your bound ring for the same amount, while they are within 20 yards and more injured than you.
I want to test to see if the wearer losing their hp will be broken out of CC such as polymorph whenever they transfer hp, because that could be considered “taking damage” to break polymorph.
There is also a trinket called Chain of Suffering:
+475 strength/agility (heroic version)
Use: Transfer 50% of your damage taken to an ally within 15 yards for 25 sec, up to 363,880 damage. If your target moves out of range or falls below 25% health, the effect ends. (2 Min Cooldown)
This trinket definitely seems like it would break CC but I would like to test it.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong about there being no gear vendor.
If any of these effects work in rated pvp, I will be very disappointed.
I believe there was a trinket like that last patch and it didn’t break CC. Someone was talking about these items last night here and said they don’t break CCs.
The ring seems like it’ll have the same effect as the trinket from Uu’nat, but that chain of suffering trinket looks like it works differently because it specifically says it transfers damage taken, instead of just transferring hp.
Either way, I feel like we should be able to test these items. That’s the whole point of the PTR, isn’t it?
It’s for testing for bugs. Not for testing optimal PvP gear ya big dumbo. Wait for the raid to get released like every other PvP’er.
Can they just add set bonuses back to raid gear?
They’re trying so hard to keep raid gear BiS with these special effects, but set bonuses have worked flawlessly since Vanilla.
It’s like changing the formula to Coca Cola for no apparent reason.
How often will you really see the ring though? You need 2 people to have it, and once they link it stays linked for a week? Only main teams will have it for the most part.
Since they give more importance to m+ they wont. They removed them exactly for that reason because m+ players had to raid to have optimal dps from bonus which were around 10 to 20% dps increase for each spec
I think the key words to look for are taking damage. Kind of like the change they made with burning rush. Loss of health mechanics = do not break CC.
I think it was tyrannical or grievous where pve set bonuses got disabled in PvP. Then legion was like “eh, it’s all allowed because there isn’t gear in pvp anyway.”
and now gear’s back. but there’s no set bonus’.
in short, the devs have no idea what they want to do.
