Is there some obvious reason we can’t just transmog cloth on plate wearers and vice versa? Or I can’t make a dagger a pole arm? Is there some reason built into the code or is it just the fun police?
Most of the things I want to transmog on my rogue are cloth because cloth looks enough like leather and it has hoods and actual black clothes etc.

I kinda think it should be based of what you can equip. Yeah I know, it’s unfair to non plate people but honestly our stuff is mostly meh.
Because they don’t want warriors to look like priests or vice versa, which frankly, would be just silly.

But why would that matter? If that’s what they want to look like, who cares? There name would be brown like all warrior names are. No one would be confused.
That may have been the thinking at one time but I don’t think it works now that the racial armor can be worn by any class within that race and then there are sets like the Orgrimmar Set or Stormwind Set that can be worn by any class OR race.
I agree with you. As a druid my character wouldn’t be trying to wear the plate and mail anyway, but cloth is far superior to leather.
I too am greatly disheartened with how limiting the appearance customization options are in this game. I would find so much more enjoyment in WoW if I could use any gear appearance regardless of style.
In addition, the outdated system of having different colored sets dropping from different content difficulty levels should be changed. I would rather have the ability to alter the color of mounts and armor. There are so many outfits that I will never consider wearing simply due to the fact that the color pallets combinations are just revolting.

See I go the other way. I wouldn’t put a rogue in plate probably, but plate gear looks amazing compared to leather to me. And that is exactly the reason we should all just be able to equip anything cause people like you exist and people like me exist and neither of us think anything close to the same.
