Why can’t we have a playable turtle species in game?

We can. They were designed into the game back in 2002, before WoW went live, and they are on their way but it’s just taking them a while to get here.
After all, they are turtles.

Same reason we don’t have Tuskarr, Gnolls, Ogres, Murlocs, etc. It’s much cheaper and faster to give us reskinned Dwarves and Elves and such.
Would be cool to be a turtle tank and unlike other tanks, you can be hit from behind and take like a 70% damage reduction or something.

I’ll name my turtle fury warrior Leonardo and he would only wield 2x1h swords. FINALLY, a use for single minded fury!
Because a catgirl allied race is more important.
if you want to be a catgirl then roll a druid.
Kobolds first.
Being a tortillian would be pretty neat. Going around collecting all kinds of history and relics, and they’re no strangers to fighting if it comes down to it.
I’d certainly play one in a heartbeat.
