Why cant we get 2 tier sets

is it really that much effort to make a tier set for pve and one for pvp? some specs have such good ones and then others just get shafted with aoe increases and stuff

Big agree.

No, it’s possible, but their current design philosophy is basically that if you’re good at one of the pillars (keys, raids, rated pvp) then you should be awarded and allowed to take those rewards into other forms of endgame content, albeit at slightly reduced effectiveness.

As a result the gear must remain compatible across content types.

Is worth it? Probably not, but it’s how they’re currently doing things. I think that tier bonuses make the first month or two of the season an unfun rng hassle where people fret about if it’s worth to do pve and then another month or two to properly tune the broken stuff.

Not a fan but here we are.

well its not like they would be uncompatible unless they were buffing honor talents or something which would be redic

They’d likely either be honor talents (collecting 4 piece gives Arms access to Sharpen Blade for instance) or function similar to honor talents in that they’d have some weird functionality with the potential to break pve.

I’d say that the Legion approach is preferable where they just outright disable tier bonuses but maybe they’re tuning stuff around having tier. Kind of.

Again, not ideal, but that’s kind of why we’re in the predicament. Maybe it’ll change in the future.

or make pvp tier sets and put them on the vendor

If they were to put tier on vendors available week one it’d have pve players in shambles about “feeling forced” to pvp or something unless they were mutually exclusive with some pve alternative.

There’s also having it be “only active in pvp” but then there’s the whole cross content compatibility thing as well as pvp just arbitrarily getting their power spike soon and reliably.

Kind of an annoying spot to be in. :dracthyr_a1:

The current tier system is one of the biggest failures to come out of shadowlands and it was so poorly received that it’s pretty surprising it made it into DF. So many bad things about it.

The better question being, why can’t we just not have tier sets in PVP?

Idk, I think getting another honor talent would be nice…

They’ve been more trouble than they’re worth, IMO. Not to mention the RNG vault lottery for specs that’s 2 and 4 sets are really good gaining an unfair advantage over competition.

Probably is for them.

Because then PvE players are at a disadvantage.

How are PVE players at a disadvantage if tier sets are disabled in PVP?

I wasn’t being super serious.

But, if you place the priority on PvE players, they’d want to walk into PvP with their gear fully operational.

Imagine if the PvE set bonuses revolved around healing stream and they’ve changed their entire playstyle to focus on using healing stream. Then, those set bonuses are suddenly taken away in PvP and it’s actually bad to use healing stream.

Blizzard doesn’t want players to experience significant changes just from stepping from one content to another.

I imagine the typical PVE player’s gear is at a disadvantage anyway. I think this guy’s PVE set is 397ilvl where I got KSM and stopped playing dungeons after. I suspect the lion’s share of the playerbase is around/below that–so in most cases you’d still need to farm PVP gear anyway.

Maybe. But then they’re at a further disadvantage if their PvE set bonuses are disabled.

I recall PVP gear’s PVE ilvl being nerfed because pure PVE players didn’t like it. I’m confident the PVE players are very fair, and reasonable people who will understand. (Lol)

I was thinking maybe completely disabling all tier sets in PvP and including a slot underneath the honor talents which has a bonus effect or two exclusive to PvP that the player can choose from (specific to their spec). I wonder how far something like that would go.

Would be an opportunity to add some old class abilities/mechanics from older expansions too. A few thoughts off the top of my head - i.e. WW monks getting FoF stun back through this slot, Arms/fury getting charge stun back (with the removal of double time talent node), MW being able to use soothing mist while moving, Ele getting unleash or elemental mastery/enh getting back instant hex through maelstorm stacks or getting feral spirit stun mechanic, Fire mage getting combust stun, all druid specs by default getting NS and has no ability restriction to it or all specs get cenarion ward etc…

Or…PvP tier set bonuses. Like when DK 2 set gave them 2 grips etc. Nothing game breaking, but still good.

let me rephrase: either make tier not a thing, or give us pvp tier that can be accessed via vendor (idc if it doesnt work in pve)

i cannot relate to anyone running the same dungeon hundreds of times
