Your gear doesn’t die, you do.
So your ghost hands would go through the rune, and the gear.
Therefore, no possible.

Your cadaver can’t engrave a rune on its equipment.
I swear there’s a small group of people who login to the game with the sole purpose of trying to think up anything to make a thread about on the forums.

ok then why can you switch around your skills from the book?
Because your character isn’t switching, say, “Mutilate” to “Saber Slash” on a fourth-wall-breaking arbitrary interface for you as the player. Your character is casting “Engrave Chest - Saber Slash” on their armor to override the Mutilate rune your character has already cast “Engrave Chest - Mutilate”. Your character can’t cast this ability while dead, just like they can’t cast any spells from their spellbook, or even non-spell abilities like first aid, cooking, etc.
Low effort buffoonery, even lower tier results. /thread
The solution is to carry multiple pieces of equipment to hotswap to in such situations. The addon item rack can queue up a piece to swap the instant you leave combat / rez.

just like I said to ding dong at the bottom how come your “Ghostly” hands can open your spell book to switch skills around then? 
Because your character is doing nothing. You, as the player, are interacting with an interface that the character does not. As I stated above. Changing runes is casting “Engrave Slot - Rune,” something your character must do, which they cannot while dead.

The skills are knowledge. You learned them. They are in your head. Runes are engraved onto ur gear. There’s the difference
Nice try, but I know Whoopie isn’t real.
A spell is an incantation that you learn. It is knowledge that you then have.
You still know basic addition when you die too. Can you cast spells when you’re dead?
Now, if you want to get semantic on what your conscious can do as a ghost. That’s probably a funny conversation… Example, Priests Spirit Healing. Fun
because the runes are an enchantment. you need to physically be alive just to apply them. the enchantments are skills/spells.
Because they’re more like talent skills than trainer skills.
Because battle rez exists and you are casting runes on to your gear. Why you can have multiple runed pieces in the same slot if you want.
