"Why can't we attract new players to stay and play WoW?"

Quoted “how about everyone gets off their elitist high horse and lets new blood get something.”

The elitist are the ones being so toxic and making some things seem unfair. Need an example to those that disagree? A new player stumbles into war mode because they notice “extra rewards from quests”. Any level from 20 to 50 in war mode, is easily outmatched by a max lv and top geared player.

I degress, take away the toxic pvp war mode, makes fun for new players…

Quoted “Time gated items aren’t the reason new players aren’t playing the game. They don’t even know they exist and they have zero relevance to the game today.”
Is right in every way. Time gated items is what makes/made old players leave, not new ones. But it never stopped me from playing.
After i played a certain game in my life and the lessons of hardship. Dont be to bothered with the lost of items.

Yes life is so fast, its unbelieveable. Why classic wow and lich were perfect speeds. And youre right about the group carries, hate that.

Also right about the game being for pro-players. Our reign started in classic to wrath, because we knew how to plan sht out, so we didnt wipe in a raid 20 times.

Eh. Tried it, couldn’t get into it, didn’t care for it either. Plus the niceness seemed more artificial. Its always easier to be nice when the corp has a fugging camera on you at all times.

That I agree with. But as of late, more people have returned to WoW and my somewhat-pleasant realm’s trade chat has gone from the occassional political rant to insulting everyone who tries to use the trade channel for its purpose. So, FF14 is a breath of fresh air when that starts happening, and that makes sense.

What a coincidence. Perhaps its the unhinged player base that left to begin with, of course my time in FF14 predates the whole “ASMON WENT FF14” crowd that exploded across many discords, forums and everywhere else. Same with Preach and the other streamers. Idk, I left several servers to avoid trade chat (partially).

I don’t mind criticism if its justified, but a lot of these folks are living in a bubble.

It’s a shame that trade chat can’t really be used for trade anymore. Not without the peanut gallery insulting sellers for interrupting their political rants and [rear orifice] spam. I hope one day things clean up because it’s not an inviting environment when it’s busy

Proudmoore has been pretty respectable for the most part. I noticed an increase in returning players that have added some spice into the trade chat, but usually they’re gone relatively soon. Its inevitably going to happen I suppose. I’m glad Goldshire is a thing for that reason.

:point_up_2:

And this also comes to old rewards. New players want something, they can’t get it and get ridiculed by the people. “It’s your fault for being born too late for FOMO-stuff lolol”

Yeah bro the timeless isle was real challenging I bet. Killing a world boss is such a testament to someone’s skill back in mop-- totally reasonable to just delete a big chunk of it from the game for new players.

People who think their old open world “accomplishments” mean anything are hilarious. It’s be like gating off antros after SL ends for no real reason other than “he’ll be easier later lawl”

I’m not your bro.

Bro, ffxiv has an entire game of removed content.

The primary reason is that WoW PVP has been bad for awhile.

You’d be surprised to find that people are just as scathingly elitist about cars as they are about video games.

Something something human nature?

It’s not call of duty. You are meant to put in work to get competitive at end game.

If you played back then and accomplished things back then then yes it feels good and feels like you accomplished something. Just because you don’t ever accomplish anything doesn’t mean it doesn’t feel good if you tried it.

Why can’t WE attract players?
Are you doing your part?

here’s what YOU can do to help:

  1. While playing FF14 always say “This game sucks, I’m gonna go play Warcraft!” at the end of every group and in chat at least 5 times a day.
  2. Use your allowance to bribe homeless people to play Warcraft at the library.
  3. Whenever someone here posts a “I’m quitting” topic, reply with “Dude can you please stay? You are one of the best players in the game and I look up to you”

If we all do our part we will get many new players.

Players are the issue as to why we don’t gain or retain new players, I played on a 255 fun private server once upon a time, even donated $100 to it, the existing players were elitist idjits that camped the gearing dungeons in their $500 worth of dono gear meanwhile i was helping new players, of course it never helped. Why should new players stay when no one is willing to talk or willing to help them? If all they’re met with is “YOU SUCK GIT GUD YOU NEWBY PIECE OF CRAP, GO DIE HURRRRR” or “…” or "vote kick-kicked

Edit: Also fun fact, that private server is now dead because of the players that played on it, why maintain something that gets 0 new players and 0 income to help with the upkeep?

You’re acting like the in game store sells you tier 2000 mythic ultra godlike raid gear that grants 50000 to all your relevant expansion stats and you deal 500k dps. I prefer it to BDO where they effectively force their players to yeet their entire banks at them to move forward 1 nanometer.

Edit: If you act like level boosts and otherwise unnecessary COSMETICS and MOUNTS are the bane of the universe, then you know ABSOLUTELY nothing about microtransactions.

Edit2: FUN FACT YOU ARE NOT FORCED TO SPEND MONEY ON THE IN GAME SHOP.

No one cares about time gated items mate, get over yourself hahahah

100% agree with this. And most ppl that play FF14 and stick with it dont even play the actual game. They’re just there for the anesthetics and RP. The game is incredibly boring and easy mode to boot. PVP is an absolute joke and PVE is too easy, I mean it literary tells you where a boss is aiming.

Also, I like how the original poster mentions FF14 as if its superior when its not. It has like 1.6 million daily players meanwhile retail wow alone has 1.2 million and classic has 1.4. So Wow as a total has well over 2 million daily players
