so throughout wow there have been dark shamans and dark shaman adjacent(goblin shamans at least to me). In the lore all dark shamans use the void to control or take take the power of the elementals (i like that, never a fan of asking for power), and void elves are infused with void itself and it seems like they don’t really care about nature or can be to picky about where the power they need to survive comes from. plus the elements are used to be controlled by void creatures anyways.
Idek. Why can’t they be Dark Paladins?
You don’t have to bend the lore into a pretzel, since Blood Elves were Paladins before.
Look, this guy is even a Blood Elf.
i was more wondering why they can’t be the shaman class and just have the lore be because they are dark shamans or something
Maybe the Void prevents them from hearing the elemental spirits. You already have one crazy whispering in your ears.
Not a bad idea, but the nerd compendium reckons dark shaman run off decay instead of purple space AIDS.
More than anything else though, Blizzard just don’t want to put the effort into giving different class/race combos unique spell effects and names. Lots of stuff could sail through this way, but as soon as Daddy Ion remembers the Green Fire episode he flies into a rage and nerfs warlocks, and considers adding another month before Pathfinder 2.0.
Shaman is too lowborne and savage for elf races.
In all honesty blame blizzard… just remove race restrictions already…
A bit extraneous but only some versions of Dark Shaman use the Void; as mentioned in a post above they otherwise use Decay, a sort of opposite of Spirit.
As to why Void Elves can’t be Shaman…I imagine it’s mainly just because Blood Elves aren’t; if we’re to assume that the devs still pretend to care about lore when deciding on race/class combos, that is. It checks out considering Void Elves stem from Blood Elves, save Aleria, and can be every class Blood Elves can, save Paladins.
Also extraneous but I imagine similar reasons are to be blamed for why LF Draenei can’t be Shaman or Monks, despite core Draenei being able; there were none of either depicted in the Army of Light. The classes LFD can be however do reflect what we saw of npcs among the faction.
No blood elf learned shamanism before they were exiled and became void elves.
There are already too many elves.
I would prefer not to see even more of them.
And how many dark shamans do we know that aren’t cultists or mobs or bosses we fight and kill?
The Alliance would never allow such an abhorrence. Nor would the Velfs themselves.
I can’t see any type of nature magic working for Void elves.I am surprised they can be half their classes honestly.
And most elves have mocked Druidism and the Night elves who practice it.
I hope these race/class combos never happen, it makes zero sense and just kills their identity.
Dark shaman don’t use the void.
There are 6 primary elements that Shaman can wield. Air, Water, Earth, Fire, Spirit, and Decay.
Normal shaman use Spirit in their interactions with the elements, it helps to pacify them and make them amenable to cooperation. The elements of Azeroth are so chaotic compared to those of Draenor because Azeroth’s world soul consumes most of the ambient Spirit energy.
Dark shaman use Decay to force the elements to do their bidding.
Tbh, if goblins can, anyone can.
Why would void elves be shamans when they’re blood elves and blood elves don’t learn to be shamans.
because they were rejected by the blood elf community for dabbling in the void, and i don’t think the void elves are in a position to snub any form of power they can get their hands on. the elementals have a long history of being controlled by the old gods and other void creatures so to me it seems reasonable for some void elves to dominate the elementals around them.
I say, make it happen!
We do the impossible…
Don’t make me respec and post my ve s. Priest to holy and post to show this. That be effort lol
That’s a fair point, though considering the entire goal of this group is to further their understanding and mastery of the Void I doubt the willingness of individuals to explore other relatively foreign avenues at the same time, especially considering the events that led to the playable ones’ current state. Remember that said state was incidental; a result of the interruption of an something that would’ve otherwise been catastrophic for them, which happened in part (at least arguably) due to their relative ignorance.
Because playable blood elves haven’t been able too as well.
