Why can't they recreate zones like WOTLK?

Whenever I force ot have to go in Grizzly Hills I have to mute it I fear like I getting assaulted in ear case how Bombastic track is much like Azurespan When it not Remind me of little use of blue dragon zone are.

I Enjoy Hallowfall land Have interesting and Nice as relaxing point, and Make me wonder what lay beyound undersea, As well I Enjoy the Arathi, they freaken love me there.

Ringing Deeps is all right there some key moments where I feel life can happen underground in how one line say “life find a way.”

Undermine is idea how morden city be if let grown and I Love the place it my kind of town.

Azurespan Ugh Don’t want ever go for it and soup sucks, Feel sorry for our speical Gnolls have to suffer the Tuskar warth.

I Do miss Icecrown and dark how scrouge got back then.

But I Miss the haunting land like easter plauge land like sign of war that left curse like haunted land you know.

And I mourn for Dalaran I hope Undermine keep a idea we canhave city with few few hostiles/places we can go into Like London in morden day.

The WoTLK zones had purpose to them for each zone which made them feel grand and connected to the story. They kind of tried that with TWW and it was a mixed bag.

Right, and guns, mortars, and tanks were also a thing as well, not an entire zone built with lights, a golf course, underground beach resort, race track, etc

If you can’t see the difference than it can’t be helped.

Actualy it does make sense seeing as Undermine is underground.

LMAO not steampunk?? Okay go back to Kezan to some extent and the entirity of Undermine has heavy Steampunk vibes .

If you really want to call it out of place that started with Goblin and Gnomish engineering ages ago.

Then add in all the Goblins and Gnomes that have has literaly robot we have had to deal with, which also counts in the world of Steampunk and Cyberpunk. Both of which are exact elements used in this genera inlcuding Tolkienesque(emphasis on esque for everything) seeing as from day one this game has inlcuded all elements of fantasy and science fiction.

And don’t assume people didn’t play it.

Those elements were there as well you’re just chosing to ignore it.

TWW is very similar to Cata and MoP but the color tones were better in Cata and MoP if we are to be honest when it comes to zones.

Systemlands had the worst combination of zones I have ever seen but it was an experiment so I give that a pass.

DF and TWW zones are too bright for the most part and it results in a play experience that is non WoW.

If you can’t you haven’t been paying attention at all to every last element of the game.

We had Steampunk since Warcraft 2 my dude.

I wouldn’t call it nostalgia because Legion and WoD was more gritty tone then sunshine and lollipops of DF and TWW so people have a legit complaint regarding the current zone design. Current zone design is very sanitized which the worst offender of recent memory is Zereth Mortis.

I am on the complete opposite side of the spectrum and generally find the WotLK zones to be pretty awful. The place is just so drab.

… it’s the goblin hub city… what did you think it was gonna look like?

:joy::joy::joy: Undermine is the worse zone they ever implemented…

Ranking zone design and aesthetics of expansions:

  1. TBC Unique ambient sounds that come in and out which deviated from the orchestral nature of most zone sound designs. Crazy color schemes but still gritty and memorable NPCs and quests.

  2. WotLK

  3. MoP

  4. WoD

  5. Cata

  6. Legion

  7. BFA

  8. TWW

  9. DF

Pandaria was peek zone craft. Every square inch of the landscape has some hand crafted little detail to discover.

TWW is nice, too. But it’s no Pandaria.

Good list.

I would put CATA lower. I think BFA alliance side is pretty good, and Legion is atleast as good as WoD.

Exactly like what Undermine looks like, because goblins took a drastic turn in Cataclysm.

Before that, you look at Gadgetzan, Booty Bay, Everspring, Mudsprocket, and Ratchet, completely different aesthetic.

My problem with Pandaria is mostly in the first zone. The questing their is horrible. Tons and tons of RP.

Also I prefered having a choice in starter zone like Northrend had. Northrend to me will always be peak continent design because of the two starter zones.

I think the zones in TWW are objectively as good or better than most of Wrath. But nostalgia and rose tinted glasses are powerful.

God forbid the humans not having the most fertile zones and forced to struggle like the Orcs did for years. Perks of being the favorite child of the Dev team I suppose.

Tell me you DON’T understand Lord of the Rings without telling me. The whole theme of Tolkien’s Hobbit and Lord of the Rings is freedom and hope even against overwhelming odds, and characters like Bombadil, the Hobbits, Gandalf, etc… all demonstrate that motif.

WoW was never all that “dark” either, compared to Warhammer which Warcraft was meant to be originally, WoW is very much a mixed bag of mostly humor and levity balanced against sporadic grim dark moments.
