If magic isn’t doing the trick to revive Varian, cant the gnomes just use their math or something to bring him back?
I dont think you understand what math is.
He’s dead. He just got burned away by Fel. Since His Body was destroyed. Nothing could ever bring him back except only his spirit somewhere in the afterlife.
Varian is literally dust in the wind. There’s no coming back from that. I almost hope his soul was obliterated by Gul’dan rather than being stuck in the Maw being tortured for years.
Hohoho! But there is using SCIENCE!!(and magic) If your normal magic or resurrection can’t bring Varian back let me guarantee you that highly advanced dark science can indeed do so! With the new advances in cloning we will make a new Varian, then with some small help from some bronze scaled dragons we can scan his brain! And just like that SCIENCE has created a new Varian!
Why? His story atrc was over, and like Anduin he has a bad habit of hogging all the faction spotlight.
The Alliance is too complicated and big to be accurately represented by one individual. Especially now that the Horde doesn’t even have a warchief.
Varian’s arc is over and his death was glorious.
Bringing him back would just ruin it.
I don’t get why people think Gul’dan would have let his soul go. Even for leverage purposes holding onto it would be the smart thing let alone the fact it’s a far more powerful soul than average. I always figured Varian was super dead.
Oh I totally agree, I speak on behalf of the power of gnomish technology. I do believe it is time for him to rest. As for soul related things I’m pretty sure Anduin has already had one of those moments where he speaks to Varians ghost so clearly his soul survived in some way.
Dude, he got disenchanted like a purple nobody wanted.
He’s not coming back.
Why wound Gul’dan care about his soul? At that point he was winning and he didn’t see anything that the armies of Azeroth could do about it. It might have been the smart move but Gul’dan wasn’t always the smartest, especially when you calculate in his arrogance and thirst for power. At that point he was drunk off of the legions power and I doubt he’d see a use for Varian’s soul.
Always room for one more soul in the soul engine.
Phew, good thing Jania is getting some more screen time than Anduin in Shadowlands.

Horde Bias encapsulated.
The Alliance bias continues. Jaina kicks butt while Baine and Thrall are injured. Alliance favoritism peaks itself once more-
While I don’t want the character to return(death should have consequences), Warcraft has no hard rules about characters returning. This is a group of developers that have gone on record saying they won’t let canon weigh down their decisions.
You know I am just gonna flat out say it, the faction guys being there is Very VERY VERY likely tied to them meeting people etc. (Thrall meeting Draka, Jaina Uther and/or Kael and possibly arthas, Baine voljin, and anduin uther. or just for sylvanas to have her saturday morning cartoon gloat at anduin.
Less bias, more they made her too strong. I get shes a Warcraft III character but she is making the Maw look like a joke. Why bother having us there at all? She has the power and will to continually escape and trash the place, give it a few years she’ll clean them out enough to get to the Jailer and solve the problem herself.
Yeah like, I don’t want Varian to return nor think he will, but his body being disenchanted doesn’t mean anything. Derek was supposed to have been burnt to ash but then we found his corpse perfectly intact despite being underwater for 20 years.
Not to mention his complete opposite. One resolves everything through the reality warping power of P E A C E. The other hits things hard and they’re solved while praising his tactical prowess
