It would solve so many problems. like 1am to 8am. But it’s Blizzard, I expect nothing but tears and sadness.
Note to OP: the earth is not flat, there is always someone awake regardless of what time it is for you.
There’s a legal team in desperate need of your logic to improve their arguments.
Been like that for 16 years. Get over it!
Every maintenance period since 2004 have people complained.
People would flip out if the game was massively buggy and had issues, but then they also flip out when Blizzard does maintenance to fix and/or prevent those issues.
At night when everyone is asleep? When its daytime at my house its night somewhere else and vice versa. Its even night time 3 hours before I have night time on the other coast of the same country I live in. They also get daylight 3 hours before I do.
The world doesn’t revolve around you, OP.
I play in the middle of the night. I like it just the way it is…
I too think of only myself.
…if I have to explain to you why it can’t
Or why it’s prohibitive
Then I’m just going to assume you’ve never worked in a professional environment, or had employees under you, dealt with scheduling and payroll ect.
Tuesday is the least played day, hence it’s the designated maintenance day.
And it wouldn’t matter what time of the day they picked to perform maintenance.
Early morning maintenance is mid-morning, afternoon or even peak evening somewhere else.
Come on, you mean tech support people are people who’d demand overtime and extra wages for working in the middle of the night and people would still complain its the wrong time for them?
Is this just ‘be reasonable’ time now?
Or had an actual job beyond doing the lawn/dishes for an allowance…
If the devs are asleep then how would they do the maintenance?
I know this is off topic but were you a worgen a few days ago or am I thinking of someone else?
Well, put yourself in their position: would you want to work all night because some people have nothing better to do?
OP, are you not aware of different time zones?
Actually, I have. A majority of my working life (including six years in the Army) was spent doing overnight shifts…they’re fun.
Two main reasons.
First, more people play late night than you might expect. MMO dead time is generally morning and early afternoon when most people, including the late night crowd are at school or work (or sleeping.)
Second, it means the devs don’t have to work crazily non-standard hours to run updates at 3 am.
There will always be some people affected no matter what time you pick, but mornings affect the smallest number while also letting the devs keep a relatively normal schedule. It really is the best option most of the time.
In UO we called that “Prime farming time”. It was when you had the best chance to get an empty dungeon or clean up mining.
This did happen at night time for me. Servers went down a bit after 2300.
I fired up gears tactics on the new xbox to chill till I went to bed.
