Why am I unable to transfer a character from one server (Eranikus for example) to another server which is currently locked (Whitemane for example) if I have an existing Character on said Server (Caveat being both of these characters would be on the same account)?
I’m not trying to arm chair quarterback, and I’m not an expert in server tech, but how would that make any impact whatsoever, I would only be able to play one Character at a time, seems to me as though they have a blanket restriction on transfers to any server worth playing on, even if you have existing Characters on said server.
How hard could it be to remedy this?
Any advice from Blizzard would be welcomed.
Also, please allow people who took the bait and transferred their Season of Mastery Characters to Eranikus before you pulled the plug, and revised your official standpoint to transfer again for free. Thank you and god bless

Yeah idk. I’m in the same boat as you. I play on Grob and I can’t transfer a 70 to it because of an arbitrary rule even though it wouldn’t increase server load at all.

But it probably WOULD increase server load. Because then you’d be playing both characters on that server, rather than splitting your time between two different servers. Obviously, this isn’t going to be true for ALL players, but it would be true for enough players that it’d have an impact on the server.
How would it increase server load if both characters are on the same account? It’s an alt. The thing that I find hypocritical about this restriction is that the whole essence of blizzard’s approach was to allow people to “play with their friends”, I currently cannot do that with all my characters.

Or rather players have to choose between a preferred character. I’m in a similar boat and I’ve only ever logged on an alt that is banished to another realm when my normal server wasn’t at risk of a queue.

Nah, it just means we play the character on the server we want to play on 100% of the time regardless but on a single toon instead of two. Stop justifying the issue on blizzards behalf, you aren’t on payroll, you’re allowed to give critique and feedback to them
Of course you are. But on this occasion I just don’t happen to disagree with them.
