I sometimes participate in raids on another server. In this raid group, players frequently ask for rolls on some gear drops they don’t need. It appears to me that no one ever actually rolls, but my friend who is a regular member of this raid group (and on that raid group’s server) says yes lots of people roll. He insists they are just using regular raid chat, not any special addon. I do see the requests for rolls (as well as other discussions in raid chat) but never any results for /roll. We tested last night, where my friend typed /roll into raid chat even though there was no specific item at stake, and I did not see his roll. Then I typed /roll into raid chat, but he did see my roll. I’m guessing that /roll cannot be seen across servers for some reason, but then why did he see my roll and why have I sometimes seen roll’s in LFR and world boss groups (both involving players from many servers)? Thanks to anyone who can enlighten me.
Check your chat settings. Make sure system messages is turned on.

This. It has nothing to do with cross-server. I can see them fine.
Rolls show up in my general chat tab not my raid or instance tab. Not sure why, I never looked into it and just figured that’s how it was.
I had this issue, fixed it by right clicking my General Tab, clicking the Other Tab, and unchecking/rechecking System Messages.
