I’ve tried looking through different timelines with Chromie time and I can’t seem to find it anywhere? When I used dungeon finder previously I was in the Cataclysm timeline and the list for classic dungeons in the dungeon finder was much larger than it is now for some reason? Like there was an option for me to queue for deadmines and now there isn’t which is odd. Am I missing the queue option for return to Karazhan somewhere in dungeon finder? Why can’t I find those other dungeons, I think they were level ranges 10-60 and I am under level 60 so I don’t understand?
Also I am curious would I still be able to queue for these dungeons once I am above level 60? The level ranges for them are 10-60 usually, what would happen if I queue for one of those if I am above that level range? Will I be scaled down to level 60? It would kinda suck if I can’t do those dungeons anymore cause there is a ton of dungeon content I never did in this game and I would like to experience them.
Never done Return to Karazhan, Mechagon, or Heroic Deadmines in Timewalking or LFD. I’d love to do an actual run of Heroic Deadmines where I’m not just oneshotting the mobs, especially since Vanessa got a redemption story in Legion.
In Burning Crusade, they added “heroic dungeons”, which were higher difficulty versions of existing dungeons. Sometimes they’d be a followup to the story of the original dungeons. Heroic Deadmines is one such instance, the final boss of Heroic is only hinted at in the Cataclysm-revamped normal dungeon, and you have to do it on Heroic to complete the story of Cataclysm Westfall.
Mechagon and Karahzan were another variation called “Megadungeons”, which basically meant that they were broken up into wings, like with Blackrock Spire, Scarlet Monestary, Auchendoun, etc. At release they were also “Mythic” difficulty, which was a tier above Heroic Dungeon, and couldn’t be queued for the Looking For Group feature. Later, they made Heroic Difficulty versions which could be queued for, but I only ever ran them that way when the expansions they came out in were current.
Interesting, but I was curious why I can’t queue for the other normal dungeons like I used to previously? Like I had an option to queue for deadmines and it isn’t in there anymore?
Also I was curious what would happen if I queue for a dungeon that is 10-60 if I am above level 60? Can you even do that?
No, you can’t. Once you go above the dungeon scaling dictated by which Chromie time expac you chose, you will get automatically kicked out of CT and told to go level in DF. I believe this happens at level 58? Although I think blizz is tweaking that soon.
I believe the old school zone level brackets system is still there, but you’ll be restricted to BfA only dungeons.
Return to Kara is a legion dungeon btw.
There’s nothing stopping you from soloing those dungeons after you have overleved them.
I kinda hate that to be honest. I mean I would have liked it if they had an option for you to still queue for those old dungeons if you are above the level bracket, but they would scale your level down to 60. Doing dungeons with other people like they are supposed to is a lot more fun than running through them solo. I think ff14 has a certain system that keeps their old dungeons and raids relevant and it makes me wish that WoW had something similar.
It would be nice but I think they’re afraid about the massive disparity in dungeon mechanics and the fact that the player base size is no longer large enough to handle splitting people up yet further. Hence why all new accounts are locked to BfA.
It’s also probably why they introduced the “taking longer than 5min let’s open your queue to other dungeons” mechanic. Before that existed, it could take upward of an hour for a dungeon queue to pop whilst leveling.
You’re not forced to play through the entire BfA campaign. But yes, new accounts are locked to BfA queued dungeons until they have at least one max level character on their account? That being said, I don’t think there’s anything stopping a new account from using the old zone level brackets system instead. But 99% of new players wouldn’t know about it and the UI heavily prompts them toward BfA.
Does WoW even get “new” players lol? This is such an old game and I know the player base is still large, but I would imagine the overwhelming playerbase consists of old players that stuck forever.
It does. As a guide, I can identify them. Plus I have access to the newcomer channel. However I have noticed a significant drop off in new players since the end of SL. Although that could be due to increased sharding on Blizz’s end.
Return to Karazhan is a legion mega dungeon. They only have two modes, heroic and mythic. Neither of which are in the random dungeon finder except for 1 special case for heroic mode. You are at the exact level it is tuned for. Which for Legion is level 45. But good luck getting a group to do legion heroics.
