Why can't I attack Umbric?

So, while doing the Alliance Incursion in Zuldazar (as Horde), I found Umbric just standing on a hill with two nonelite raptors nearby. No guards or anything else around him. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown, he’s marked as unfriendly to me, so the most I can do to him is make a rude gesture and try to take some incriminating screenshots of him.

So, why can’t I kill him (or at least attack him)?

EDIT: Yes, he’s a questgiver, but Horde also has a quest in that area to kill all the velfs who are corrupting the raptors. Seems dumb to have it so we have to completely ignore the guy in charge of this.

Because he’s giving out quests for the Alliance. Your objective is to kill other players (if you’re in War Mode) not their undefended questgivers.

He’s a quest giver for the final stage of the Alliance invasion. It would be really annoying if he was dead all the time because of Horde players.

Not my fault if he’s undefended - just seems really out of place with BfA’s overall premise that we suddenly can’t attack a faction leader “just because”.

Because he would banish you to the void my friend where the little voices would drive you slowly mad. Then you would be reborn as a Murloc.

The other option is he’s a boss that melees on leather for 75k, has a short leash, aggros very easily and needs a raid to take down. I’m more in favour of that. Especially if he respawns almost instantly afterwards.

And all he does is transport a character who attacks him into a void zone full of hungry void entities that the players have to fight their way back from only to wind up halfway across Azeroth. Each player gets one hit, then “blip”, they’re gone.

Because he could kill you. Lorewise he’s more powerful than you. He’s also got plot armour, So there’s that. I mean i found Nathanos unguarded somewhere, i don’t remember where exactly, but i wasn’t allowed to kill him. You know why? Plot armour. It’s really simple.

what do you mean you can’t kill him? are you struck with fear at his mere presence and pacified through terror because he would force delete your character with his void power if you aggroed him?

Because the game is merciful of you, so it is preventing you of making the mistake of attacking Umbric. He’s OP.

Actually, I think Blizzard just forgot to phase Umbric out for Horde players. You probably shouldn’t be able to see him.

You can’t attack him because of his super powerful void shield and void influence that confuses you into thinking he’s just unfriendly and not a true enemy of the horde.

Hhhh! Void Murlocs!! I want them as the next allied!

These are not the void elves you are looking for.

He’s corrupting our raptors.

Reason 1: (Gameplay) You cannot attack Magister Umbric as killing him would deny Alliance players access to his quests for an undetermined period. Whatever his respawn timer would be. This constitutes a form of griefing, and as the quest is part of a time-sensitive event, cannot be condoned.

Reason 2: (Lore) Magister Umbric is the 3rd most powerful and skillful wielder of the Void currently known, and could do things to you so unspeakable and horrifying that if I continue much further I will get a forum vacation.

From Magister Umbric.

He’s that powerful.

The first two are… Alleria and locus-walker?

Yup.

I did stipulate, “That we know of.”

Something tells me we haven’t seen the last of Locus-Walker or the Ethereals.

Ethereal allied race next expac please kthx.
