Why can't gearing be simple and not RNG based?

You can get full pre-raid BiS in less than a week now with m+. That is kinda irrelevant to what people are asking about here.

I actually agree that some timegating is needed but the double and even triple dipping we have now needs to stop.

Full pre-raid BiS = 4 tier pieces / double lego.

Every single piece has to be perfect at 278 through vault.

Not achievable in 2 weeks.

You could get all 272 gear and upgraded from Valor ít’s close but that’s not pre raid bis is it?

In TBC i had 0 upgrades left from the content outside of raid, it was truly pre-raid bis as there was literally nothing i could do to improve my gear outside of raid.

That is not pre-raid. If you are going to use pre-raid tbc as an argument at least know what it means on live.

Also I can take it even a step further and say people who were raiding SoD before SotF came out pretty much went into the tier with “pre-raid BiS” because everything was timegated to hell and back.

Well it depends on your own definition of pre-raid BiS

If that’'s the case everyone that raided mythic SoD is in full pre-raid BiS even before the new tier dropped.

If you define it as the best gear you can get without stepping into raid 2 weeks won’t even be close to cutting it on retail.

Where as in TBC it doesn’t take more than 2 weeks to get BiS for every slot before raid.

The problem here is you are trying to use an ideology that hasn’t really existed in well over a decade outside of maybe the first week of the first tier at the start of an expansion. Which brings me back to my point on how this is even relevant to the topic?

The OP isn’t even asking to be fully mythic geared in 3 weeks.

I feel like if we are at a point that non BiS is making people consider quitting then maybe the game just isn’t for you anymore.

You are very welcome.

I simply said WHY its not designed like TBC anymore and stated the reason.

You were the one that inserted yourself after reading the post wrong and assumed I said FULL BIS.

Wrong.

At this point in time you would not be getting anywhere close to full BiS in 1 weeks on retails.

You have a good day internet stranger, you win gratz

Not going to go round and round with you.

Honestly if you ask me, I think the game needs to move away from the current model it has putting such a strong emphasis on Raids. Like yes…have them, but there needs to be new and fresh content to the game.

The valor and catalyst is the closest we have ever come and I have not been happier. I’ve ran more dungeons this week than I have in the last two patches because I’m in control of what gear I get.

And its been great to play with and make friends in skill brackets I wouldn’t normally be able to play with.

I also liked Legions approach in someways. The idea that every type of content you did helped you in some other content.

  • Any content helped level artifacts.
  • Any Kill helped pet battles.
  • Dailies helped level companions for the mission table.
  • Mission table helped rep for mount grinding.
  • Mission table helped get gear.

If only they added pet charms to boss kills.

Yes there will be.

So you wanna kill enchanting? Cause we benefit from unusable loot.

I am fine with RNG and getting everything u want just makes the game stale and gives no reason to keep going.

If anything, I wish they kept the artifact system

Gear could still drop for transmog looks and that could be disenchanted. Or they could go another rout with enchanting entirely.

Changing any major system effects several of the smaller ones as well but you improvise adapt and overcome any challenges you find happen as a result of major system changes.

because they want your money…

its that simple…

I mean if the major answer people can come up with is the hamster wheel then by all means they could still make the tokens timegated or need an absurd amount of them. And basically nothing would change lol.

I am fine with rng drops i just think it sucks that for pve there is no real option aside rng, i do my pvp got my gear and made my 2500 m+ rating in 2 weeks for the mount.
It would be cool to buy something and as time goes on keep upgrading it.

It’s working as intended. But what matters is you reached your personal goal without it… like KSM. The game is not about getting every BiS gear becoz it wont happen. It’s about beating dungeons like your KSM.

which other ones? i haven’t played others all the way till endgame.

but you aren’t doing m+ and you’re raiding aren’t you?

Your gripe seems to be the inability to get loot, but you don’t want to partake in the content that would give you the upgrades you want.

Its fine to not like the content, but the game itself does seem to have a solution, and you just want to use it.

how many times have you cleared most of the bosses in the raid? seems like a hefty amount of time.

because you got called out on your complete bs?

Your argument is you will quit if you hit pre-raid BiS. PRE RAID. If it takes that much for you to quit then honestly just quit no one cares.

The fact you think this is relevant in this topic is beyond me.

I have always advocated for a crafting loot based system like Monster Hunter, with upgrade routes.

WoW is not Diablo. I don’t feel random drop loot works the best for it.

Of the ones i’ve recently played it’s just gw2 and ffxiv both of which do not have a super convoluted gearing system like WoW does. FFXIV adopted what WoW had back in wrath/cata/mop while gw2 is more about professions/crafting gearing you up.

The fact that blizzard mentioned that professions will be offering several BiS pieces in 11.0 makes me really hope they are adopting this from GW2.

  1. Here is what they need to do Focus the game on quest chains and daily quests and world quests and LFR normal and minigames for renown/rep and gear and unrated PVP content and story tieing in all this stuff and have a toggle at a vendor to receive the raid and mythic and rated PVP version of the quests so players can opt-out or opt-in for the harder content so when we get a daily for a dungeon or run 5 battlegrounds that people won’t get the hardcore versions if opted out and WoW be able to measure player activity in content better and the casual player won’t feel like they gained a quest they cant do. As you level up your average ilvl you can eventually get tier 1 PvE dungeon gear from world content and between that and running Dungeons you can eventually get fully geared and start leveling up your gear with boss and elite world quests and dungeons.

  2. Put in vendors and currency for full Honor and Valor sets and trinkets and weapons earned to be earned in dungeons or world quests and PVP content and used to buy and upgrade gear with make is so you can earn everything this way and even have it so you can convert 250, 500, 1000 honor for valor or vise versa at the cost of gold if there is a tier set or trinket from other content you want but you don’t enjoy other content and pay up with gold so they don’t have too.

  3. Remove Conquest and add in RNG honor chests for rated PvP with guaranteed honor then open the chest for either bonus honor or tier 5 gear and if you already have it welp you got a decent chunk of gold from selling it.

  4. For raiding content drop Valor just like dungeon content but add in a random valor loot chest that either has bonus valor in the chest or a tier 5 version of gear for RnG chance to skip some cost in upgrading and if you already have it then you can sell it to a vendor for a decent amount of gold.

  5. Start gear from tier 1 and upgrade to tier 8 of a piece. and a new season and patches don’t give you more ilvl gear it doesn’t ramp up more but new raids and dungeons come out with new gear sets so you can choose to farm a new set of gear if you like what the set does.

  6. Keep gearing fast so players will more likey run alts keeping gearing for one toon under a week.

  7. Give crafted gear unique set bonuses different from PVE and PVP so it will be desired even if gearing takes less then a few days or week of grinding.

Cuz RNG works to entice the player base with an addicts personality. Its just as bad as loot boxes.

I would rather buy my stuff with marks or with gold. Not wait to have Blizzard give me what they think I need.
