Why can't engineering be useful?

All engineering ever gets is toys and a mount every expansion.

Why can’t it be useful in combat? It’s not like engineering makes any money.

Nitro Boosts, Flex Underlay and gunshoes help heaps with my mobility issues as a DK

They got rid of my precious ammo

if eng had nothing else useful aside from nitros id still pick it for a prof, it’s that useful

Speak for yourself. Nitro boosts, gliders, wormholes to nearly everywhere, Jeeves, etc. Engineering is the only profession that retains usefulness long after the expansion has passed. The usefulness of everything else is fleeting.

The new potion bombs are pretty solid imo.

i was very dissapointed they got rid of scopes

“just toys and mounts?” sounds like OP is just scratching the surface of engineering . engy isnt useless, hell, its the most useful. even after the expansion ends old engy stuff gets used all the time. cant say the same about the other professions

we get alot of sutff. the big two being wormholes, witch making it piss easy to move to any location and tool like the ress tool, Jeeves and many others . hell just today i wormholed to panda land to do the farm dailys to get the dog, then wormholed to sl for a mists key run, used Jeeves inside said key and then used the tww wormhole to get to the main city to hand in a weekly quest (could of used my hearth stone, but its in it a weird spot… i gatta move it, lol)

so again op, no, no its not

they do get some nice gadgets but more times than not I have a hunter character be the engineer as in the past engineering made ammo but even in modern day they make guns which hunters use so it just felt like an easy pick. That and tinkers for the cape to give me a glider to not fall to my death is always nice, the tinker in TWW to have a healing potion injector is nice too…despite setting you on fire shortly after healing you as it claims to do

Engineering is only useful for the person who has it, that’s the downside and as for OP, we can use nitro boosts and this expansion some bres items and that’s really it.

It’s handy for us, but useless otherwise and never makes any money. Whoever said Engineering was going to make money was probably on crack, or a goblin who brought up all the AH stocks of the old expansion items to sell.

Blizz seems to think engi’s a powerful profession. It’s the only crafting prof that gets 1 knowledge from its crafting order weekly quest instead of 2 like all the others.

I remember back in wrath hand mounted pyro rocket it was so rad

I would take Engineering for the Wormhole alone.

Wormhole Generators for every expansion
Jeeves
Jump cable brezzes (not engineer exclusive but made by engineers)
Nitro Boost
Goblin Glider

The only other profession that is useful is Alchemy. The rest are just a convenience briefly during the start of an expansion.

the jumper cables stopped working in m+ for me.
is it everyone or just me?

it worked fine during m0 week but in m+ it always says “out of range” even if i’m sitting right on the corpse.

Ngl i was little mad DF bombs didn’t work in TWW.

LOOT-A-RANG best item ever.

I seriously haven’t really used any “newer” engineering item since DF more than 1-2 times if at all.

nitros and portals is damn useful

i haven’t done much but i saw something that will auto throw bombs. my hunter likes bombs, i might try and get him whatever that is. more bombs is better right. I really dig the idea of breaking down OLD XPAC eng mats. That rocks! I happened to have that sort of stuff in the bank because packrat. :+1:

my only complaint— which is the same for all profs— is everything is too expensive when it comes to the materials. all the trainer learned recipes should be simple imo. let the other stuff be pricey.

yup. every alt i have that isn’t actively crafting has engineering. op wants something that engineering doesn’t need. giving it a combat buff would make it mandatory

Eng is the “me” profession. Makes MY game so much better.
