Why Can't Dracthyr, Harronir, and Earthen Be Death Knights?

Death hasn’t been removed from these races - we see them fall in battle constantly throughout our adventures. Countless Dracthyr fell during the events of Dragonflight - the battles against the Primalists, the Incarnates, and throughout the Dragon Isles conflicts. These fallen warriors would be prime candidates for resurrection by the Ebon Blade.

For the Earthen, if the Ebon Blade could find and raise Dark Iron Dwarves, Lightforged Draenei, Vulpera, and Zandalari Trolls, surely they can locate fallen Earthen warriors killed during TWW. The same necromantic forces that brought these other races into undeath could work on Earthen champions.

The Harronir have existed long enough to have had casualties worthy of the Ebon Blade’s attention. So why can’t in Midnight, the Ebon Blade resurrect a few that we will no doubt witness dying as we navigate their zone and storyline?

The inconsistencies become even more apparent when we look at existing Death Knight options - races from isolated locations or those fundamentally opposed to undeath can somehow be Death Knights (Lightforged Draenei???), yet these new races cannot, despite all of them having the ability to be priests, monks??? WARLOCKS?? Can you explain to me how the Harronir learned the ways of fel? Or the arcane? At what point in their existence did they learn about the Light, and create priests if they have been isolated this whole time??? It just doesn’t seem reasonable to not explain these types of holes, yet permit them, and not allow Death Knights within those races as well.

Are we expected to believe Death Knights will only be available for races years after their introduction, waiting for some arbitrary timeline? Or only when there’s an explicit Ebon Blade presence in an expansion’s storyline, which is so unlikely to occur??

The power of undeath persists. Maldraxxus exists. The knowledge remains. The Ebon Blade continues to operate. There’s no lore reason why these races should be excluded from becoming Death Knights.

Blizzard, please reconsider these restrictions. The dead are everywhere, and the Deathlord’s army should reflect that. Please allow the fuzzy new trolls to be Death Knights :3 <3

To my fellow Knights of the Ebon Blade: Rise up and let your voices be heard! If you want to see Dracthyr, Harronir, and Earthen Death Knights, speak now! Reply to this thread, create your own posts, submit feedback in-game. The Lich King’s legacy may be shattered, but WE persist. We are eternal, and our ranks should be open to ALL who fall in battle. The time for arbitrary restrictions is over - petition for true equality in undeath!

No one left to make new death knights.

Being risen by some rando for no particular reason isn’t the most compelling backstory a character could have.

We would need some actual lore to support it.

The one thing they all have in common is that they have all been hidden away for thousands of years and we’re not part of the war with the scourge.

Are earthen even alive though? I mean we see in the story that they kinda just…shut down? There’s plenty of powered off earthen in the isles is someone really wanted to try to reanimate them I guess

I’m more wondering who taught the Harronir how to be monks

Cause blizzard doesn’t want them to be.

I’ve seen the Earthen Jailer mog, he’d be to strong, and a danger to our eyes brother.
Also they break to pieces when they die, not get reanimated.

hard to take a topic seriously from someone with a username that’s very obviously a censor evade of a slur

They’d have to make a third DK starting questline since the one they made for the allied race DKs is already out of date.

There is no lich king to raise them.
There is also no reason to raise them.

Necromancy is a felony for everyone except the forsaken.

Its all about demon hunters now ,get with da times :sunglasses:

The pandaren really get around it seems.
Good for them

I joke but it wouldnt be the first time they inserted themselves into another groups backstory to train them.

Sounds like the argument I had with a GM claiming a necromancer can revive my Warforged. “THey’re a living being” they said while I said: “THEY’RE A MAGIC ROBOT DANGIT!”

I don’t personally buy the whole “No more lich king, no more death knights” schtick when we have the guy who created the Crown of Domination on speed dial.

I also think that if the Earthen are just rocks pumped to the brim with order magic, you could just as easily replace that with death/domination magic.

The real answer is Blizzard either doesn’t want to or is waiting for a better time.

Why Can’t Dracthyr, Harronir, and Earthen Be Death Knights

I can’t tell if this is bait or not, but they literally were not remotely there to be turned into DK. All Dracthyr were in stasis, Haranir didn’t know the outside world existed except for the Earthen, Arathi, and Nerubian. The Earthen do not leave where they live till they learned that the Titans were erasing their memories… now they are not robots or slaves which by the way is the reason they can’t be DK. They weren’t there, the robots were all working :stuck_out_tongue:

With out a Lich King it would be near impossible to raise a DK successfully, To do it with out a Lich King it would likely take the entire force of the Knights of the Ebon Blade channeling their unholy magics to raise the dead in hopes of maybe getting a proper sentient undead for training a new DK.

Even though I’d love to have a Dracthyr DK the Dracthyr can’t be DK because they’ve been asleep for so long, They didn’t re-awaken till after the Lich King power was destroyed.

The Haranir that we encountered from what I recall was never supposed to leave their homeland to begin with, So even if they can travel across the world tree roots not being allowed to leave would have prevented any of them from getting taken by any Lich Kings.

Then of course the issue with the Earthen would be the titans would not have programed the machine that reanimates them to take on those magics, The DK magics are more related to the curse of flesh lore and so the Titans wouldn’t have programed the machine to give them the DK class when they originally built it.

Dracthyr dks is in theory possible, lots of usable bone piles during their lab development & army time but Alexstrasza/Emberthal might throw a fit about dk generation from long dead Dracthyr.
