I think it should be on you…
You have been informed… make a decision, and don’t whine about it when the consequences come.

You’re silly. Nobody is okay with 5 hour queues.
If you’re okay living in a queue, please… let it be known.
Then you avoid them… problem solved
Shouldn’t have to.
World isn’t perfect.
Sometimes people dogpile on a server… sometimes they don’t…
You are at least kept informed to make the decision that is best for you.
Guild loyalty
Sure isn’t.
But, at least I can voice my opinion on a matter. Blizzard allowed it to happen. Maybe they can still fix it. We shall see.
I have a feeling while servers may lose upwards of 50% of there population between P1 and P2, I foresee 75% of those players coming back for P2
Right. I see events that will drive the population up, not down.
Layers don’t increase the server cap though silly goose.
Here’s what increasing the layers will do. Let’s say 10k is the server cap.
10k People on 1 Server with 10 Layers. 1k People per Layer.
10k People on 1 Server with 20 Layers. 500 people per layer.
Every added layer removes the amount of people you’ll see.
And that is just a VERY VERY simplified version of what will happen. It’s very scientific, I don’t wanna get into it right now.
Because they don’t want to retroactively put people in a situation where they’ll HAVE to make a decision to transfer off their realm in the first place.
Why would you even suggest this?
They want to prevent this from happening.
They want get rid of layering - but they need people to spread out before phase 2.
Adding more layers, or higher layer caps, just makes it that much harder to get people to spread out on their own. Blizzard does not want to take the heavy-handed (or underhanded) approach to this.
Layers increase the realm cap. They can keep adding physical servers to add more layers to infinitely increase the capacity of one realm.
But that just kicks the overcrowded problem down the road.
Sure, everyone can login now, but what happens when they remove layering? Later on, they’ll need to get even more players to transfer off the realm. And it won’t be toons that nobody has played yet. It’ll be level 60 toons that need to move.
As long as they offer free realm transfers to low pop realms it should allieviate a lot of it.
They did this back in the day, Plenty of people and even entire guilds would move to avoid queues. “server pride” only tolerates so much
Plenty of people seem hesitant to move to lower pop realms right now.
uhhhh wut?
Just Delete your character off the realm its on and remake it on a new realm.
There is no need for free transfers yet, since no one has actually level’d yet.
They should offer transfers to a new realm that only accept transfers from Herod.
Right now, players are unwilling to go to a new realm because they grabbed their favorite name and they don’t want to lose it.
you are aware if you go to a new server even via transfer you dont necessarily get to keep your name right?
If you transfer, and someone already has that name it puts an X on the end and offers you a name change.
People might have to suck it up and realize that their name is either worth 15+ hour queues, or isnt. I for one never understood the hardcore attachment to a name.
Also its not just herod thats busting at the seams.
Then create more realms that only accept transfers from one of the overloaded realms.
That way, players can keep their names.
What happens then, if people that havent subbed yet have friends on those realms? They are SoL.
People may need to get over their insane attachment to a name.
