Why can't Blizzard design decent looking mail armor?

RIP Hunters and shaman. The armor always looks like the scraps put together from leather and plate.

That uh.

That’s what Chainmail armor is?

And still Blizzard can’t make it look good, which is the point here.

Since you’re trying to be a smart a// …chainmail is literally not scraps of plate armor and leather.

Nathria, PvP and next tier mail sets look good.

But you right before then they were bad.

The new raid’s mail looks so boring compared to the other stuff tbh. Mail is always my least favorite sets in any raid.

I mean, I’d argue the leather looks the worst of them but maybe it’s just me haha.

Persian miniatures of the first half of 15th century show different combinations of mail and plate armour with lamellar armor and brigandines sometimes worn with a single round mirror plate as breast re-enforcement.

The Horde Darkshore set looks great.

Did you miss the part where it says… ahem… mail. Mail AND plate? Plate and leather do not make the mail itself, they augment the existing mail, as it literally says r e i n f o r c e m e n t.

And why is this even a discussion? Why are the forums always full of this crap?

The kyrien hunter set looks good IMO.

Different combinations of mail and plate armor with lamellar armor and brigandines. That means some people use mail and lamellar. Some people used plate and brigandines. That doesn’t mean mail CONSISTS of plate and lamellar armor.

I dunno. I wish my hunter and shaman could transmog leather, which has a lot more good looking stuff as well as appearances that look more like something a hunter or shaman would actually wear. Like what RL hunter wore armor that looks anything like what the hunter sets look like?

Agreed, OP. I’m maining my shaman and I hate 95% of mail mogs.

This! Being able to cross transmog would be great :frowning:

Or even Mail? Actual combatants rarely wore mail, because in the Middle ages Mail was a luxury for being too expensive to make, most fighters had maybe a mail coif/gloves or a mail Hauberk, but full mail suits of armor? Never really used… so why does the class which hangs out in forests and wilderness settings use an expensive heavy armor type?

Yeah I associate mail with something more like a cleric, which has a higher rank than the usual soldier and probably isn’t on the front lines.

There’s some shaman sets that look pretty good. Hunters, however, get the cast offs the circus clowns won’t wear.

There’s always the option of Vanilla mail appearances since those to tend to look more… warrior-y due to warriors originally using mail under 40, which isn’t quite right but at least doesn’t look ridiculous, but then you have to live with 5-polygon shoulder models and 64x64px textures.

You missed the part that uses cloth or leather to piece that stuff together. :kissing_heart:

They augment the brigadines, just as the plates augment the mail.

Because it’s part of the conversation!

And then I quoted how mail and plate armor is put together! So you actually started this discussion.:+1:

According to the WoWwiki article on Mail armor, Hunter/Shaman mail is traditional chain mail…
