Why can we see Mage power balls but not Warlock soul shards?

So only you can see your Warlocks floating soul shards - other players cannot see them

But we can see other players floating ball things on Mage!

Probably because soul shards are a resource like combo points whereas mage icicles are a buff they have like pally wings (which you can also see).

Not sure but my Walrocks see them all the time right above their heads.

It’s a glyph thing if memory serves.
There’s glyphs for orange, purple and green shards. Baseline Warlock doesn’t display their shards on their person, only on their resource bar.
I’m not certain if it’s something only other Warlocks can see, or if anybody can as long as you have the glyphs active.

If I’m not mistaken I believe anyone can see it, but I’d imagine that if you pvp that’s not something you’d want to advertise.

You two are crossing wires. They already know about the glyphs. OP is saying that they can’t see the effect on other Warlocks that are using the glyph. The person you’re talking to is saying they see them on other Warlocks all the time, and is speculating if only other Warlocks (or other locks using the glyphs) can see them for some reason.

Ideally yeah, but at the same time shard generation is high enough you can be reasonably sure at all times they’ll have at least one.
They’re basically like any other secondary resource; runes for DK, HoPo for Paladins, combo points for Rogues, et cetera.

My warlock does not have the glyph to put floating shards overhead, but can see floating shards above some other warlocks.

Yeah but other players can’t see them. I guess its just so they can’t see how many soul shards you have or don’t have in PVP

I did a world boss last night with a warlock who had the green shards

I’ve never seen them. Or if I have, I didn’t know what they are.

I can’t see them on my character (outside of the standard resource bar, like everyone else).

There are glyphs that make them float above your head.

You can get purple, green, or orange shards
