Why can’t any race be undead? Thoughts?

Elves can be undead, too.
Because the specific group of undead we play as are from lordaeron. A human kingdom.

I been up for the idea for a model swap option of all races with an undead coat of paint on it.
You could argue that Undead elves are more Forsaken than Blood elf anyway.

That was true at first but after we killed the Lich King Sylvanas had the ability to add any race to The Forsaken.
Yeah but mostly she stuck with raising humans. Lots of them in the ground around the undercity.
Are Death Knights undead?

That’s probably it. It would require a building new character creation interface.
Not saying it’s impossible. It just wouldn’t make Blizzard much money.

They were already Undead before being killed and turned into Death Knights.
DK are undead. And they have every race.
This raises even more questions.
Lore wise, its because most of the forsaken are from the graves of Undercity, a just about completely human area. But Death Knights come from a variety of races so by technicality, a lot of races can be undead.
True but DK is a class. I could not pick a mage who is an Undead Dwarf, for example.
There are no undead dwarf mage. Or are they?
Bolvar resurrected all races and that automatically make them DK… I guess, tho It doesn’t make any sense.

It’s explicit in the Cataclysm campaign that Sylvanas’ Valkyr could only raise humans, which is why the Alliance threw non-human attackers at her.
That’s also a big part of why the Forsaken are still effectively all human.
That and the fact that the original plague of Lordaeron, from which the Forsaken were originally created, only resulted in undead humans. Any undead of any other race had to be raised the hard way.
